Boof through the years...

Adoption day in 1993. Boof is the black blur with the headlamps on the right. :)

Boof cannot see due to PRA-progressive retinal atrophy, a slow degeneration of the retinal tissue.

What a beauty!

Boof is quite an incredible dog. He completed a canine good citizen class and worked as a therapy dog and a canine ambassador in schools.

He loves to play 'dress-up', march in parades and is always game for a ride in the car.

2nd place winner at PetDay!

Boof with Cynthia from Make Peace with Animals at a rescue reunion in PA.

Hippie Boof! LOL

Boof and friend Sheba.

Boof with subdural hematoma's caused by the Babesia.

In December of 1998 Boof became very ill with a tick borne disease called Babesia. At the time I did not know that this disease is prevalent in greyhounds and can lie dormant for years. We almost lost Boof during the holidays as the only serum to be had on the East Coast was at the University of Pennsylvania Vet School and they would not ship it directly to me. Through the efforts of my wonderful vet, Dr. H, who kept Boof alive and demanded that the serum be shipped immediately, Boof survived. It was a long recovery and now he is doing fine. A little older, a little more frail, but still remarkably healthy. At 10, he is quite an old guy, most greyhounds live to be 8 or 9 at most.

Modeling his new hoop. The hoop helps him with spacial awareness. He can navigate open spaces much more comfortably now. :)

Giving Bug a kiss.

Boof and I attended the 2000 Voices for the Voiceless rally in Washington D.C. sponsored by IMOM where Boof recieved an Award for Bravery.
