Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia

Moreton Island is a global hot spot for large Longtail Tuna also known as Northern Bluefin Tuna.
"Fishing options are many and varied on Moreton. If pounding surf is not to your liking, you'll prefer the western beaches or the southern tip of the Island at Reeders Point. These locations are dominated by whiting and flathead catches through the summer months and the timber strewn foreshores and isolated structure are favourite bream haunts in winter. Chopper tailor and dart are also caught on the calmer western side of the Island with the gutters and protruding sand spits around Comboyuro Point, and particularly Tailor Bight the most productive areas. It's possible to fish the rocks off the Cape but this is best left to the experienced angler as seas can vary from "mill pond" to "foaming suds" dependent on sea and wind. Local knowledge is the key here, it's always worthwhile dropping into the bait and tackle shop to catch up on what's biting and stock up on fresh bait or live worms. But the real attraction of Moreton Island is tailor and their haunt is the eastern beach. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of quality, "tailor looking" water when I drive down the surf beach on Moreton. There is always good water, regardless of the tide, somewhere on the main surf beach. Everything from deep "jewie looking" melon holes and deepwater breaks in the outer bank, to chopped up sudsy shallows infested with the biggest slab-sided dart you'll ever catch. Bait is never a problem with plenty of pipy banks and "python sized" beach worms as well as good supplies at Bulwer." Extract in quotes taken from AusFishing.com/au
