Kenamond 2010 Holiday Website

This was a big snow ski year for the kids. They attended Wolf Pup ski school at Wolf Creek and learned so much. I think that you can tell by the smiles on their faces that they had a lot of fun, too! Both kids have come a long way, and it's pretty cool to go on ski trips as a family now.
Lydia and her class chose to investigate Bess beatles as a science fair project. Here are Lydia, Emily and Sophia at the Science Fair with their project. Our 2010 New Year's Eve party was a big hit! Our neighbor Paul played some guitar, and everyone had a blast!
Kyle tearing it up during the Chicken Dance at the Mother/Son dance. Dad and Lydia getting ready to head out to the Daddy/Daughter dance. Lydie's turning into a young lady!
Vicky got a tattoo for her 38th birthday. The Honey Bee represents the bond between girlfriends. Such a trend-setter!
We surprised Lydia by redecorating her toddler room into a pre-teen room. She LOVES it! Kyle's Kindergarten class put on an end-of-year performance. Kyle hammed it up.
We took a vacation to Vicky's old stomping ground in Camdenton, MO on Lake of the Ozarks this summer. Grandma Norma and Papa Howard visited while we were "in town." Look at that tan (Lydia) and sunburn (Kyle)! Vicky had her 20th high school reunion while we were in Camdenton. She had the opportunity to visit with her friends. Just like old times! Go Lakers! Because Lake of the Ozarks is a lake and because lakes are rumored to contain fish, Dad picked up some rods and reels and tackle for the kids. Lydie and Kyle each caught their first fishes! By the end of the week, the kids were able to put the icky worms on the hooks themselves. Both of them really enjoyed fishing. Dad was proud!
Other tourist attractions on the lake included Old Time photos. The kids' choice of costumes was a real shocker.

Go Karts were a hit. They bent the rules a bit by letting Kyle drive, but he didn't mind!
Kyle went to basketball camp this summer. They upgraded to regulation-sized basketballs, too! To get in the spirit, Kyle chose a hair style to match the ball's.
This summer, Dad, neighbor Paul and a few others began "jamming" together every Thursday. This rekindled Dad's interest in guitar. He soon started spending money on music gear, including a 2007 limited edition Gibson Les Paul Standard (shown), new Line-6 Spider Valve Bogner 212 tube amp (not shown), and Digitech RP1000 multi-effect processor (shown). Here, Dad is playing at Camp May with the guys. At least the other campers didn't call the cops. It's been a blast!
Last Christmas, Dad picked up a PS3 and Rock Band 2 (David and Melissa Kenamond are to blame!) It became quickly apparent that Kyle was a natural on drums. So we got him a simple kit and, soon thereafter, a Roland electronic drum kit with double-bass pedal (shown). Kyle has been taking drum lessons and even was permitted to perform a drum solo between sets at one of Los Alamos's weekly summer concert series in front of hundreds of townsfolk. Here, Kyle tears up Rush's YYZ perfectly ;).
The Kenamond clan at the Santa Fe plaza watching traditional Native American dance (and eating some ice cream). Vicky and Suzette took a break and went to Denver for the weekend.
Among Kyle's 6th birthday festivities was a trip to the Cities of Gold bowling complex (left). Party with cake and ice cream followed back on the hill. Jack, Conner, neighbor Paul, Owen, and Kyle had a great time!
Vicky coached Kyle's T-ball team this summer. They had a great time and, since score keeping is expressly prohibited at this age, finished with a perfect record. Go Bandits!
This summer, Vicky and the kids went to Denver for Doug and Inga Lisa's wedding reception. Cousins on Vicky's side hangin' out with the kids: Mason, Lydia, Jackson, Jenna, and Kyle (left).

Our little swimmer. Lydia is a member of the Los Alamos Aquatomics swim team. She's competed in several swim meets so far.
We had our third annual Kamp Kenamond. We could choose some nice campground, pack up all the tents, cooking gear, sleeping bags, etc... or we could just pitch a tent in the front yard. Same thing, right? Anyway, it's a lot of fun. We set up a chimenea for a camp fire, roast marshmallows and hot dogs, tell ghost stories, and hang out with the neighbors. Neighbor Paul always camps with us and cooks breakfast on a camping stove in the morning. The potty is just inside the house along with whatever camping gear we forgot.
Mack went to Canada for his annual fishing trip. He's either getting better or luckier. He broke his personal record for muskie and pike. He also caught a huge snapping turtle by accident.
2010 was a wonderful year for our Kenamond family! We are so lucky to have everything we could need, health, happiness, and loving people around us. Love to all of our family and friends who are such an important part of our lives.
