About Don and Jo
We have a "mission" we feel was assigned to us by the Lord, which is visiting residents of nursing homes. We first began doing this for our church because there were so many of our members ill and in nursing homes that it was impossible for the ministerial staff to make constant, regular visits while keeping up with the many demands of their positions. There was a need for someone to help with these visits. We felt called to do just that. And we have been blessed for doing so. We will share our experiences with you regarding this on our Poems From The Heart page.
About Our Family We thank the Lord for our family. We have five children who live in different parts of the US and five grandchildren. We also have a couple of adorable grandnieces that we claim for our grandchildren as well, with their parents' and grandparents' permission, of course. We don't get to see our children and grands as often as we would like because of distance. We miss them a great deal, but we have a wonderful time when we're able to get together with them. We're very proud of our children and our grands. We love them very much.
Want to see them? Well, here they are.

About Our Pet We have a cute little Maltese dog named Dakota. He is very attached to us, and we to him. Guess you might say we've spoiled him "real good." He's a joy to us. We love to walk with him on a leash in the neighborhood, watch his playfulness (guess he will forever be a puppy), and observe his "watchdog" duties. He likes to alert us to any unusual noise, or if anyone is on our porch. He's always alert, but sleeps quietly at the foot of our bed each night. He is a very loving and sweet little guy and makes the perfect indoor pet. You won't believe this, but it's true - he has a soft white coat that is different from any dog or cat we've ever owned. The difference is he never sheds - not a hair. Before Dakota I could never have any pets indoors because of my allergic reaction to animals. Now when I'm home my little Maltese stays close to me nearly every minute and I have yet to have any allergic reaction to him. He always smells nice unless he gets into something outside, which is rare. When we take him outside he's careful where he walks and upon return he licks his paws clean. All we do is brush him about once a week, bathe him once a month and get him a "puppy cut" every two months. He grieves when we're both gone (it starts just before we leave), doesn't eat or drink or go to the bathroom (sometimes as long as 14 hours) until we return. When we arrive home he twirls on his hind legs and greets us like we've been gone for years, whether it was one hour or all day. When he settles down he looks at us with big black adoring eyes that convey his unconditional love for both of us - it's a great feeling..
