A MOTHER'S PRAYER

Was I awakened from sleep to call upon Thee?
For my children, dear Lord, your mercy I plead.
Wherever they are, whatever their care,
I beseech Thee, Lord, please be there.
Do they need your rod or your staff this night?
Or your power to put the devil to flight?
I leave them with you, my Lord and my God,
Trusting them fully to Thy holy love.
The Spirit has lifted the darkness so deep,
Thank you for watching while I go to sleep.
