If we grow tired and weary, need a quiet get-away,
or just need to pause a moment from a very busy day,
there’s no need to pack belongings and take a trip by car.
We can look around about us, find refreshment where we are.
We can walk the paths of nature and spend time with God in prayer.
We can visit God’s creation, feel his presence everywhere.
We can hear the breezes whispering through the trees and rustling leaves.
Just sit quietly and listen to the birds sing, if we please.
When we wake up in the morning, we can watch the rising sun
with wonder and amazement at what our great God has done.
We can watch the squirrels scamper as they gather food, and play,
watch all nature grow more lovely with the passing of the day.
In these quiet, peaceful moments we can lift our hearts in praise.
We can worship God and thank him for his mercy, love and grace.
We can bring to him our problems and our heartaches, for he cares
about the things that trouble us. He listens to our prayers.
Our Father knows the things we need before we even pray.
But he longs for us to fellowship with him in prayer each day.
We must pray for one another, without ceasing, fervently.
Our loving Father waits to hear his children’s every plea.
Sometimes Jesus drew aside and prayed throughout the night.
If we would strive to be like him, our troubles would take flight.
His disciples listened well to hear what Jesus had to say
when they came to him and asked him, “Lord, teach us how to pray.”
