Look Down, Look Up, Look Out
Crowds are screaming, burning flags, shooting guns,
throwing rocks. Bombs are exploding, killing,
and wounding. Winds are howling, ice and
snow piling up. Rivers and streams are overflowing,
houses crumble as they are washed away. The
earth groans and shakes, opening chasms, swallowing
houses, automobiles, people, animals, trees. Mountains
rumble, roar, explode with fiery streams shooting
into the sky, then gushing down in rivulets, consuming
all in the wake. Young folks are running in the streets,
shooting and killing. Hatred abounds.
Men are killing wives and children. Women are killing
husbands and lovers. Parents are killing children, and
children are killing parents. Hospitals are overflowing
with the sick, wounded, and dying. Billions are
starving, crying out for food and medication,
while the rich prosper. Churches, houses of God,
are being torched and burned to the ground.
Homes are being burned, killing families. The homeless
are wandering the streets in the cold, longing for
food and shelter. Babies are crying, sick, hungry
and cold. People wander on to jobs, tired, sad,
worried, frightened and sick.
Is there no relief?
O God, look down!
O people look up!
O Jesus, is this why you had to come down
here to die? What does all of this look like on
a sunny day, God? How does it look on a
storm tossed night?
O people of God, get down and pray!
O God have mercy upon us.
Look up, look up, people!
Ask God to heal our land, our homes, our families.
Then do as He said, obey His commands.
Love God with all your heart, mind, soul
and strength. And love one another.
Look out - not in !!
