Mother
The Sweetest Rose in The Garden of Life
Our Mother
Our precious mother was called by her Lord and Savior to her Heavenly home on December 2, 2004. Our hearts still long for her, but we know she is the happiest she has ever been as she now resides with her Lord, and our Dad, who went home to Heaven in 1996. They both are watching for us to join them there. We're on our way, Mother and Dad!Visit our mother's Memorial Page
To see the story of our family you can go to: SUMMERFIELD & VANDALL FAMILIES
It is a site my brother, Bob Summerfield, has done, and covers much of the Summerfield and Vandall families. I'm so thankful Bob decided to do the geneaology search.
We'd like you to meet our mother. She's very special and precious to us. Since Don's father passed away many years ago, and his mother passed away in 1989, and since my father passed away in 1996, we only have one parent left - my mother. Since she is the only one we have we consider her our mother. And we are very blessed to have her. Mother is special in a lot of ways. She is 88 years old but is very young at heart. Mother always seemed to be able to work circles around all six of her children and their spouses. Until the summer of 2000 she was still cutting her own grass, not on a riding mower, but walking behind a push mower. We offered over and over to help with this, but she wanted to do it herself for the exercise, saying it helps to keep her healthier. She is more frail now, and we help her and keep close watch over her.Mother really loves the Lord and has been devoted to Him all her life, having accepted Jesus into her heart as Savior when she was a little girl. Her life was not easy, but she was dedicated, determined, and faithful. Mother is also a very dedicated prayer warrior, which is well known throughout the church family and her circle of friends, as well as her own family, and receives many requests for prayer for loved ones, friends, and all sorts of special needs. Mother is the one who taught me how to pray all night long when facing a time of deep hurt or trouble or need. This has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. She gives tirelessly of herself to teaching the Bible and has done so for many years. She has taught preschool children, youth, and adults of all ages. She went for training in sign language so she would be able to work with the hearing impaired and worked for many years teaching and loving deaf, blind, and multi-handicapped children. For many years Mother worked faithfully in missions and Vacation Bible School, not only in her own church, but in other churches and mission sites as well. Mother is still busy to this very day as an encourager and prayer warrior.
Mother, for many years, has taken advantage of every kind of Christian education class being taught at her church through the Discipleship Training Program. She has many, many hours of study and training behind her and has put it to good use. She has so much wisdom, spiritual as well as practical, that many folks come to her to talk and ask her advice.
Probably the most difficult times in Mother's life were the times she nursed her own mother through seven years of cancer, and then she took care of Dad when he was an invalid and in hospice care for nearly two years. She was faithful, brave, strong, and loving.
I can think of no better role model to follow in all areas of life than my Mother.
I would like to share with you a poem I wrote for my mother, which is from my book, Poems From The Heart.
She serves her husband and children well, seeing to all their needs.
And
with a deep abiding faith, she with the Father pleads
for safety, wisdom,
strength and health for each one in her care.
Her family's assured a place in
Mother's daily prayer.
Before the dawn she rises to make sure the house is warm.
And in the
stillness of that hour she finds a certain calm
affording her a special time
to feed upon God's Word.
Soon her loved ones will awake, their voices will be
heard.
No matter what may come her way there's always Mother's love
to comfort,
guide, encourage, teach, to lift us up above
the cares or worries we may
have. Through morning, noon or night
she watches carefully o'er us to keep
our steps aright.
We're to give our mothers honor, for God's Word has told us so.
He gave us
a commandment with a promise we should know...
"Your days will be long upon
the land I give to you,
if you honor Father and Mother as I said for you to
do."
God appointed mothers to a special place in life.
He knows children need
their mothers, and a husband needs his wife.
Precious stories from the Bible
we can read to learn of others
who were servants of the Lord, because of
faithful, Godly mothers.
Lord, thank you for my mother. She's a special gift to me.
And in my
mother's loving eyes, your great love I see.
Please give my wonderful Mom a
Happy Mother's Day
filled with rest, refreshment, peace and joy - for this I
humbly pray.

Mother loves flowers and has them all around the house and several beautiful flower beds here and there in her yard. Below are some of her flower beds. You'll see Mother, Dad and Don, my husband.
