I just love these birthdays, they’re a blessing from the Lord.
Better than expensive gifts our money might afford.
I love the celebration, the candles on the cake,
the gathering ‘round of family, happy noises that we make.
I think about when I was born, and where, and how I grew.
Time surely seems to have flown by, and yet I’m still not through
with learning what I need to know to feel happy, wise, content.
I want to know when time is past my life with God was spent.
Now there’s no need to worry about years passing, growing old.
With God, a thousand years are as a day, that’s what we’re told.
We can see it in the Bible; it’s written in God’s Word.
Besides, along with age comes wisdom, I have heard.
It’s fun to unwrap birthday gifts, and read those lovely cards.
It’s great to get those phone calls from my friends with their regards.
But what I treasure most of all is the day that I believed
in Jesus Christ, took him as Lord, and new birth I received.
As birthdays come and birthdays go the thing I’ll celebrate
is that time and age don’t mean too much; it’ll never be too late
to share God’s love with others, live with joy, always be
looking forward to the time we’ll live with God eternally.
It seems to me the best to be are songs of happy praise
that celebrate the love of God, his mercy, and his grace.
And while I spend year after year with lots of birthday fun
I’ll thank the Lord that by his love a crown of life I’ve won.
