My Sister, my Friend, don't we
make beautiful music together!

I thank God for you, Sis!

Our dad and brothers sure did wear a lot of white shirts to starch and iron!

Aren't we blessed to have each other, Sister?
And the Lord blessed us with four wonderful brothers!

George, Jo, Doris, Bob, Mother, Dallas, and David.

We miss Dad so very much since he went to be with the Lord in '96.
While our family was together to bid him goodby "till we meet again,"
we had a photograph of Mother with all of us. It was the first time in
many years that all our siblings were together at the same time since
we live so far away from each other. I'm so thankful for this photo.

Sister, it seems like the Lord gave each of us a "poet's heart" because for so long we have enjoyed writing poems.....to each other, about each other, about the things deep in our hearts, and about the memories we share. I think it would be nice, and maybe a little interesting, if I put just a sample of our poetry on this page for the world to see, to laugh at, to enjoy, or to wonder "why on earth did they do that!" Sooooo......here goes!

RUNAWAY SISTER
to Jo S. McCracken, my Sis

Oh, Jo, my sister, so fine, you're so fine.
Where are you, Sis, time's aflyin', it is flyin'.
I'm looking to find you, you're so hard to find.
You're crossing my head, yes, my mind, my mind.

I'm thinkin' about you, I'm thinkin' so hard.
Wish I could hear from you by book or by card,
By eagle, by pigeon, by crow, or by phone.
How could you leave Sis alone, so alone?

Get out of your chair and think, really think.
Get your hands out of that sink, dirty sink.
Whatever you're doing, don't do it, don't do;
Come think of your sister, she's thinkin' of you.

If I could just get you to come, oh please come
We'd run through the flowers, what fun, oh we'd run.
The fence we'd jump over, we'd find the old pump,
We'd get some well water, we'd dance 'round a stump.

Down through the fields we would skip, we'd hop,
Giggle and laugh, never stop, we won't stop;
Roll in the grass, on our heads we would stand,
Dig for sea shells in the sand, the hot sand.

Set up a table for tea, for sweet tea,
Have a small party for you and for me.
Share all we know with sweet love, love so great.
Life without worry would be our sure fate.

I don't see why we can't go, up and just go,
The child's life of wonder and magic to know,
To feel the cool breezes of life on our face,
To dance in the wind with childhood's fine grace.

It's not realistic, I guess, no not now.
We've gotten too old and too stuffy somehow.
We're stodgy and paunchy and stiff, no not strong,
But somewhere I think that we got it all wrong.

The lift of my body's not the lift of my heart.
I know it's still in me, I just have to start,
Go with the feeling, my heartbells ringing,
My senses tingling, my two lips singing.

With Jesus my Savior, my Savior is He,
My soul cannot happier, not happier be.
There's joy in my soul, make my countenance match,
Find a smile for my face, all my troubles relax.

Let's dance with Jesus, with Jesus we'll dance.
All the cares of the world? No chance, not a chance!!
Safe in His arms, safe in Jesus we'll be,
We've not a care, neither you, neither me.

We'll give Him our babies, our babies we'll give.
He'll care for them, love them and teach them to live.
We'll give Him our mates, our mates give Him too,
Then surely in love we can live, yes, it's true.

We'll give Him our mother, our brothers give too,
Into His arms niece and nephew we'll shoo.
We'll give Him our house, our truck, our car,
Our boat, our cat, our dog. Near and far,

Our sisters by marriage, our friends we will carry,
Acquaintances, strangers by plane and by ferry.
All aunts, all uncles, all cousins galore.
Is this a new thought? Have I thought this before?

I only know Jesus is just the right answer,
The answer to all that we seek to master.
Faster the joy, joy faster and faster,
We yield all to Jesus, Jesus, The Master!

Then we'll have no reason to run far away.
Joy in our hearts will just stay, always stay.
Thanks for hearing my story, what a story!
We're going to Heaven, OH GLORY, WHAT GLORY!!

THREE CHEERS FOR SISTERS !!!
to Doris S. Jamison, my Sis

Oh my dear sister, you're cute, yes you're cute.
You're sister and good friend to boot, yes to boot.
I'll share with you all my thoughts, yes my dreams.
We'll giggle, laugh, cry, squeal and scream, yes we'll scream.

I'm sending you pics of my grands, yes the grands.
Don't you love children, my lands, oh my lands!
The little treasures are sweet, they're right sweet.
Weary us from head to our feet, oh poor feet!

Could we do without them? We'd be sad, very sad.
We love them in spite of their good and their bad.
They're all trophies to us, bring us joy, oh great joy!
No matter if they be a girl or a boy.

We love them in sickness, in health, oh in health.
Hate being poor, wish for wealth, oh great wealth
To give them such pretties, good life, a great life;
One filled with joy and not strife, no not strife.

But riches will fail, they won't bring, cannot bring
Blissfulness, joy, make them sing, no not sing.
Just living in Jesus gives them peace, blessed peace.
And gives "grandmothers' hearts" release, sweet release.

Lord bless our children, our grandchildren too.
We lift them up, Lord, give them to you, only you.
To hold them, and keep them, yes guard them each day.
And teach them to walk in Your way, this we pray.

Through The Years

You've been such a wonderful friend,
stuck by me through thick and thin..
There isn't much we haven't shared,
there isn't much we haven't dared.

We raised our kids as best we could..
helping each other as good friends should.
You cried on my shoulder, I cried on yours too..
And we realized together, we'd both make it through.

We had our laughs, we had our cries,
and in between we had good-byes.
Many years have come and gone,
yet still our friendship remains so strong.....

You're more than a sister, more than a friend,
you're the one who'll stand by me all the way to the end.
Even though now we live miles apart,
we know some truths deep down in our hearts.

The truth of a friendship tried and true,
The truth that I love you, and you love me too.
The truth that no matter how wide the span
that separates us, be it time or land.

Whether it be trouble, or heartache or pain,
One can call out the other's name.
And together we'll walk through the darkest nights,
Together we'll walk till we see the light.
