I thought I was deserted,
tossed in wildest sea,
beaten, wounded, bleeding;
is hope nowhere for me?
In agony I cried out -
“God,! where can you be?
In mercy stop my breathing
and leave me struggle-free!
I cannot bear it longer!
My heart is ruptured - see?
My soul is stripped and withered
and life flows out of me.”
“My child, why do you struggle?
The war is in your chest.
Relax, have faith in Jesus
and lean upon His breast!
Give Him your pain and heartache.
He’ll handle things the best.
He knows how you have suffered -
life put Him to the test!
I strength on Him imparted.
On Me He leaned for rest.
My Son I sent to save you -
you think I love you less?”
I reached out for Jesus
and felt His power flow.
The raging storm inside me
to Him dared not say “no.”
Wild pain and desperation
changed into peaceful flow.
All things obey the Savior.
He said to let them go.
I found in Him an answer
the whole world needs to know -
the saving grace of Jesus,
God’s Son that He loves so.
