Indenture 10 Nov. 1788 Benjamin Quinn and Franky his wife of Fayette Co. to John Moberly for 100 pounds, 300 acres on Tates Creek. Witnesses Edward Moberly, William Addison, Benjamin Moberly. Recorded 1 Jun. 1790. (I believe that these Moberlys are brothers and possible sons of Benjamin Moberly, Sr., but no proof - GT)

MADISON COUNTY KENTUCKY COURT ORDER BOOK B (1791-1801)

2 May 1792 - a Deed from James Renfro to Benjamin Moberly, etc.

4 Mar 1794 - A deed from Alexander Sinclair by James Nox his attorney to Clement Moberly proved by David Coomly, and James Moberly two of the witnesses and ordered certified. On 6 May 1794 the third witness Thomas Montgomery proved the transaction and was ordered recorded.

5 Aug. 1794 - William Addison one of three who prove deed tranactions on three occasions.

3 Mar. 1795 - Benjamin Moberly proves deed, etc. (I am leaving out the rest of the statement as the purpose is to date the Moberlys in Madison Co. - GT)

5 May 1795 - John Moberly one of four any three of which to view a road to be opened from Madison Court House to Elias Barns' mill and make report.

7 Jul. 1795 - Power of Attorney from Mary Hickman, Philip Turner and William Bridges to John Hickman was proved by John Moberly and two others, etc.

6 Oct. 1795 - Deed proved by John Moberly, etc. Deed proved from John Finnie to Edward Moberly was proved, etc.

3 Jan. 1796 - Deed from Clement Moberly to Joseph Kiler was proved, etc.

3 May 1796 - A report of a road from the Ridge Lick to Thomas Kennedy was returned, examined and ordered established. Benjamin Moberly was appointed surveyor and Joseph Kennedy will allott the tithes to work. (This Benjamin, as all the others is thought by me, GT not to be Benj., Sr.)

4 Oct. 1796 - John Moberly one of four of which any three view a way for a road to be opened from the Mulberry Lick to Madison Courthouse and make report.

6 Dec. 1796 - Clement Moberly proves deed.

7 Mar. 1797 - A deed form James Renfro to Benjamin Moberly was fully proved, etc.

1 Aug. 1797 - Three deeds from John Moberly and Nancy his wife: To Ann Milam; To John Sanifer; and to Henry Johnson, etc.

1 Aug. 1797 - Benjamin Moberly and John Moberly among others who have no objection to the road being opened from the Mulberry Lick to Madison Courthouse.

1 May 1798 - Samuel Moberly proves deed from William Attison (may be Addison?- GT) to Nicholas Jasper.

1 May 1798 - On the motion of Higgason Grubbs it is ordered that John Miller, Robert Rodes, William Andison (again, this may be Addison - GT) and Daniel Maupin or any three view a way for a road to be opened from thye New Town to intersect the state road at the most convenient place and make report. (The new town will become Richmond. Previous references to the Madison Courthouse meant the first seat of government at Milford, just west of present day Richmond - GT)

2 May 1798 - John Moberly among others to view a way for a road to be opened from the New Town to intersect Coopers Road where it crosses Drowning Creek, etc. and from there to the Kentucky River.

4 Dec. 1798 - A deed from Edward Moberly to Robert Jinnings was proved, etc.

2 Jul. 1799 - A deed from John Moberly to Samuel Moberly was acknowledged and ordered recorded.

1 Oct. 1799 - A deed from William Addison to Nicholas Gasper was further proved, etc.

7 Jul. 1800 - John Moberly among others of which any three to appraise an estate, etc.


AN ABSTRACT FROM THE RICHMOND REPUBLICAN - MADISON CO., KY

Fri. Jan. 2, 1824 - At his residence in this County, on Fri. the 26th Dec. 1823 Benjamin Moberly in the 42d year of his age. He left a wife and six small children.
