"Mrs. Ella J. Bresler [1955]
Mrs. Ella Jane Bresler, 77, widow of Charles Bresler, died at her home on Rural Route 1 Bloomdale, Monday, April 18, 1955, 11 a.m. after a six month illness.
She was born in Perry township, Wood County, October 16, 1877, the daughter of John H. and Mary Jane (Stearns) Bucher, and was married to Mr, Bresler June 16, 1898. Her husband died January 15, 1948.
Surviving are a son, Herman Bresler, Bloomdale; four daughters Mrs. Ethel Stoudinger, Mrs Ida Elarton and Mrs. Helen Lee, all of Fostoria, and Mrs. DOris Bringman, Bloomdale; 14 grandchildren including two grandsons serving overseas in the armed forces, and two great-grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bresler was a member of the WSCS and the West Millgrove Methodist Church, where services were held, Wednesday, 2 p.m. Burial was in the West Millgrove cemetery under direction of the Harrold Funeral Home."

"Jessie F. Bresler [10-17-73]
BLOOMDALE - Jessie F. Bresler, 94, Cygnet Road, Bloomdale, a retired farmer, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Fostoria, after a long illness. He was born June 1, 1897, in Wood County to Phillip and Sarah (Kiger) Bresler. He married Laura Spackey Feb. 2, 1904, and she died in 1930.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur Swartz, Berea; Mrs. Raymond Hoot, Bloomdale; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bresler was a member of the Wood County Farm Bureau, a charter member of the West Millgrove Community Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Salem Grange. He was also a former Perry Township trustee.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, the Rev. William Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, West Millgrove.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home."

"MRS. S. BRESSLER TAKEN BY DEATH [1931]
Mrs. Sarah Bressler, 87, died in Fremont hospital Thursday, where she was taken Saturday night following a broken hip due to a fall in her home that day. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Mrs. Bressler lived with her son, Charles Bressler, and family, on a farm near West Millgrove. For many years she made her home in Wayne until the death of her husband, Philip Bressler, several years ago.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Hugh Reynolds of near Wayne, Mrs. Meda Musser, of near West Millgrove, Mrs. Alexander Caskie of Wayne, Charles Bressler and J. F. Bressler of West Milgrove."

"MRS. JESS F. BRESLER IS TAKEN SUDDENLY [25 Nov 1930]
Death very suddenly ended a long period of poor health yesterday afternoon when Mrs. J. F. Bresler, 47, of Perry township, succumbed to heart trouble in the office of a Fostoria physician.
Funeral services will be held FRiday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church at West Millgrove. Rev. Frank King will officiate and burial will be made at West Millgrove. Laura Spacke;y was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Spackey on January 22, 1883, south of Jerry City in Bloom township. She lived there three and a half years and then moved to Portage township where she lived until a young woman. On February 2, 1905, she was united in marriage with Jess F. Bresler and they moved to a mile and a half west of West Millgrove, her home until her death.
Mrs. Bresler was active in church work and was a member of the Sunday School and the Ladies Aid. She was a loving mother and confined most of her interest to her home and family. She is survived by Mr. Bresler and two daughters, Mrs. Eva Hoot, of West Millgrove, and Mrs. Elsie Swartz of Berea, Ohio. She also leaves these brothers and sisters: Myron Spackey, of Jerry City; Elza Spackey, superintendent of schools at Haskins; Mrs. Tressa Long, of Bowling Green; Mrs. Bertha Boltz of Akron; Mrs. Allie Thornton of Toledo."

"MRS. SARAH KIGER DIED AT FREMONT
WEST MILLGROVE, Feb 12.
Mrs. Sarah (Kiger) Bressler, 87, died at 9:30 A. M. Thursday in Fremont hospital, where she was taken after a fall in her home near here Saturday, when she suffered a broken hip. Mrs. Bressler, (nee Miss Sarah Kiger) was united in marriage with Philip Bressler, Feb. 2, 1865, in Fairfield County O. April 1, 1865, he and his bride moved to a farm in Section 6 Perry township, Wood county, which they improved and where they continued to reside until about 15 years ago when they [illegible] and bought a home in West Main street, Wayne. Mr. Bressler died about eleven years ago. Mrs. Bressler for several years continued to live in Wayne until loneliness and the weight of years caused her to give up her home and spend her time with her children. She was making her home with her son Charles near West Millgrove when the accident occurred which caused her death.
Surviving her are three daughters. Mrs. Hugh Reynolds, near Wayne, Mrs. Alex. Caskie, Wayne, Mrs. Meda Musser, West Millgrove, and two sons, Charles and J. F. Bressler, both living near West Millgrove.
Funeral services will be held in the home of her daughter, Mrs. ALex Caskie in Wayne, Saturday at 2 P. M., Rev. Frank King, of Bloomdale will officiate. Mrs. Bressler had been a member of the Methodist Protestant church many years.
Interment in River View cemetery, West Millgrove."

"Killed by Lightning [no date listed]
John F. Echelbarger, living near Jerry City, was struck and instantly killed by lightning Friday evening of last week. Mr. Echelbarger and two sons were at the barn doing some chores when the electrical storm came up. The lightning was so severe that Mr. Echelbarger thought it would not be safe to remain in the barn so with his sons started for the house. The boys were a little in advance of their father when the flash occurred that struck him. The boys were thrown down and stunned by the bold but were not otherwise injured.
The deceased was a cousin of Mrs. John Myers and A. A. Frederick of this village, also of John Echelbarger of north of Eagleville, a former resident of this village.
The funeral occurred Monday afternoon."

"Clyde Echelbarger [2-14-1957]
Clyde Echelbarger of near Bloomdale died Thursday, Feb. 7, 1957 at 2 p.m. in Wood County hospital at Bowling Green.
He was a son of Christian and Rebecca Hearst Schelbarger [sic]. He was born March 9, 1891 and was aged 65 years, 10 months and 29 days.
On December 3, 1921 he was married to Lillian Kitner. He was a member of the E.U.B. church at Fostoria. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Robert Echelbarger of Fostoria; four brothers, Frank Echelbarger and Andrew Echelbarger, both of Bloomdale; Calvin Echelbarger of Bowling Green; and William Echelbarger of N. Baltimore; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Massie of N. Baltimore; Mrs. Daisy Sandbury of Toledo; and Mrs. Edith Clark and Mrs. Marvin Kimble, both of Fostoria; and one grandchild.
The funeral was held Saturday, February 9 at 2 p.m. in the Harrold Funeral home in Fostoria with Rev. D. D. Corl officiating."

"Leslie A. Orr Taken by Death [22 Feb 1948]
Leslie A. Orr passed away Sunday evening at his home at 232 Lehmann Avenue after a two day illness from a stroke. Although ailing for the past three months, Mr. Orr had worked until the day before his death.
The son of Warren and Mary Orr, he was born at Pemberville, March 8, 1885, and was past 62 years of age at the time of his death. After spending his early life at Pemberville, Mr. Orr came to Bowling Green 24 years ago and had been employed at the Model Dairy, H. J. Heinz Company and conducted the gasoline station at Reed and Merry avenue for several years until recently accepting a position at Bowling Green State University.
Mr. Orr was united in marriage in 1903 in Michigan and his wife, Ida, survives him. He was a member of the U. B. Church at Cloverdale. The deceased was well and favorably known throughout the community and leaves many friends who will greatly miss him.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Leona Smaltz, Bowling Green; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Zeigler, Eagleville, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be held at the Deck Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Friends may call on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Rev. F. E. Peace will officiate and interment will be made in Portage Cemetery."

"Services for Victim of Truck Collision [no date listed]
Funeral services for Orville Orr, 23 of east of Portage, who was killed when a car of the Toledo, Bowling Green and Southern Traction Co. hit the stone truck which he was driving Saturday morning were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his parents' home. He will be buried in the Portage cemetery. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Orr, and two sisters, Mrs Charles Sigler of Eagleville, and Mrs. Erma Fry, of Detroit, an done brother, Lesley, who lives near Portage."

"PORTAGE CENTER"
Portage, July 27. -- The Portage Center community was shocked Saturday morning when they heard of the fatal accident which took from our midst Orville Orr, one of the promising young men of our community. Orville was of a sunny disposition and will be sadly missed by all his friends and associates and we all join in extending our sympathy to the grief-stricken father and mother and brothers and sisters.
'Dear Orville, thou has left us,
And thy loss we sadly feel;
But, 'tis Jesus has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.'"

"Rites Held for Mrs. Warren Orr
Funeral services were being held this afternoon for Mrs. Mary Orr, 66, who died at her home four miles south of Portage Wedneseay at 3:05 A. M. Mrs. Orr had been in failing health all summer and a stroke of paralysis Sunday resulted in her death. Burial was to be made at Portage.
Mary Elizabeth Amos was born in Montgomery township on September 3, 1863 to Adam and Martha Amos. She married Warren W. Orr and to this union five children were born. Two sons, Gleo [sic] Dale and Orville J., preceded their mother in death.
Her husband and these children survive her: Mrs. Emma M. Fry, of Detroit; Mrs. Sadie J. Zeigler, of Bloomdale; and Leslie A. Orr, of Bowling Green. She also leaves five brothers: John, of Weston; Adam, of Porage [sic]; William, of Fostoria; Jake, who lives near Portage; and Fred, who lives near Bradner. There are four grandchildren: Berle, Arden Dale, Leona and Mary Elizabeth, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dearest Mother thou have left us
And thy loss we deeply fee, [sic]
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled
When in heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed."

"Warren W. Orr [1932]
Mr. Warren W. Orr, aged citizen of Portage Center, departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Zeigler, in Eagleville, at 1 p. m., Jan. 14, after several months illness.
Mr. Orr was the son of Alfred and Sarah Orr, born in Ashtabula, Ohio, April 8, 1855, aged 76 years, 9 months, 6 days, at the time of his passing.
He came to Wood county with his parents at the age of 11, locating in Pemberville.
He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Amos of Bradner in 1880; to this union five children were born; they lived on a farm four and one-half miles east of Portage.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two children, Gleo Dale and Orville; surviving to mourn his departure, one son and two daughters, Leslie Orr of Bowling Green, Erma of Detroit, and Sadie of Eagleville, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Freeman Orr, of Toledo, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held in the Portage Center church Sunday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. F. E. King of Bloomdale, burial in Portage cemetery."

"MABLE L. SANDER [no date listed]
PEMBERVILLE -- Funeral service for Mrs. Mable L. Sander, 88, of 236 Bierley, Pemberville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville. Burial will be in Pemberville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Nieman-Beckman Funeral Home, Pemberville.
Mrs. Sander died at 9:45 a.m. Monday in Wood County Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1893 in Freedom Township, Wood County, to Frank and Lucy (Marten) Brockseker. She married George Sander and he died in 1950.
Surviving are two daughters, Joann at home; Mrs. Forest (Eloise) Johnson, Bellefontaine; two sons, Holland "Vic," Bradner; Howard, Bloomdale; a sister, Mrs. Helen Meek, Tiffin; a brother, Emmett Brockseker, Luckey; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren."

"Elwood Sander [5/14/87]
Elwood G. Sander, 45, of 18974 Gloucester Drive, Bowling Green, died Wednesday.
Sander was regional employment services supervisor of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, where he worked for 22 years.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville; the Wood County Board of Mental Retardationh and Developmental Disabilities; the Wood Lane Residential Advisory Board; Ducks Unlimited; Knights of Pythias Lodge, Bloomdale; and Bowling Green Elks Lodge.
Sander was born Oct. 22, 1941, in Findlay to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sander (Nellie Binger). He married Patricia Ruggiero June 26, 1965, in Pemberville. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Bloomdale; two sons, Bret and Bradley, and one daughter, Kerri, all at home; two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth, Bowling Green; two sisters, Miss Janice Sander, Royal Oak, Mich., and Mrs. Pamela Varty, Ottawa Hills, Mich.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloomdale. Rev. James Dumke will officiate.
Visitation will be at Barndt Funeral Home, in Wayne, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited or the American Cancer Society."

"Harry W. Turley [1948]
Harry W. Turley died Wednesday Feb. 11, 1948 at his home in Perry Township east of Eagleville. He was a son of James Washington and Elizabeth Galm Turley. He was born in Perry township Jan. 7, 1870 and was aged 78 years 1 month and 4 days. On March 2, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosa Brandeberry. He followed the occupation of farming all his life. He was preceded in death by his son, a brother Washington Turley and a sister Mrs. Samuel Brandeberry. He is survived by his wife, one daughter Miss Ruby Turley, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Brooks. The funeral was held on Saturday Feb. 14 at 2 p. m. in the Harrold undertaking rooms at Fostoria with interment in the Fostoria Mausoleum."

"James W. Turley
LIFE-LONG RESIDENT OF PERRY TOWNSHIP [1939]
James Washington Turley died on Tuesday morning, April 16, at the Findlay hospital from uremic poisoning after a week's illness. He was a son of James W. and Elizabeth Garn Turley, and was born in Perry township, August 5, 1871, making his age 68 years, 8 months and 11 days.
On May 24, 1899 he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Peebles, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Peebles. He has been a life long resident of Perry township. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Arthur and William; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Tell and Mrs. Milton Bockbrader, two brothers, Dr. Turley of Dayton and Harry Turley of Perry township, one sister, Mrs. George Brooks of Perry township and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Harrold's Funeral Home in Fostoria on Thursday, April 18, 1940 at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. L. R. Wolter, pastor of Trinity Methodist church in Bloomdale, with interment in Fountain cemetery."

"ARTHUR TURLEY [3-30-79]
NORTH BALTIMORE - Arthur Turley, 68, formerly of Stearns Road, Fostoria, died Thursday morning in Blakely Care Center, North Baltimore.
He was born April 19, 1910, in Perry Township, Wood County, to James and Jenny (Peebles) Turley.
A sister, Mrs. Neta Fell, survives in Fostoria.
Mr. Turley was a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Harrold-Baker Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Harold Black officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation at the funeral home is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today."

"RUBY M. TURLEY [3-10-86]
BOWLING GREEN - Graveside services for Ruby M. Turley, 70, a resident of Wooster Nursing Home, Bowling Green, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Weaver Cemetery, Bloomdale, the Rev. Harriet R. Soles officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Miss Turley died at 11:14 p.m. Saturday in Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
She was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Wood County to Harry and Rosa (Brandeberry) Turley.
Arrangements are being handled by Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria."

"L. J. TURLEY DIES [1930]
L. J. Turley, 71, passed away at his home at Gibsonburg shortly before 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. He had been a patient sufferer for many years. Sixteen years ago while practicing law he was stricken with paralysis. His condition gradually became worse until 12 years ago, when he was compelled to give up his office and remain at home. As the years wore on he became more helpless and for the past month has been unable to make his wants known by speech. He passed quietly away as Mrs. Turley attempted to give him his breakfast.
Leonard J. Turley was born in Sandusky county, August 27, 1859. His early life3 was spent on th efarm and he attended the public schools, graduating from the North American Normal school at Fostoria at the age of twenty. He began teaching and followed the profession for 12 years, the last four years as principal of the Gibsonburg public school. On Sept. 7, 1882, he was united in marriage with Miss Eudora Underhill. In 1896 he entered the law school at Ada, graduating and being admitted to the bar in 1899. He then practiced in Gibsonburg until his failing health made it impossible. He had served in various public offices of the town, as mayor, councilman and member of the board of health.
Mr. Turley is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Roy McBride, of Toledo, our [sic] grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters, A. C. Turley of Lemert, Ohio; A. C. Turley of Dayton, Ohio; Harry and Washington, residing near Bloomdale; Lucinda Brnadeberry and Etta Brooks, both of Bloomdale.
The funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the [illegible]."
