Rob gave Dinosaur...

Berlinda gave Dinosaur...

Berlinda says:
Hello Robbie.
Rob says:
Hello Berlinda.
Berlinda says:
Today we are here to review the Disney movie "Dinosaur," a tale about a dinosaur named Aladar and his quest to bring his family and friends to safety after meteors strike the Earth. I honestly don't know why this movie received such bad reviews. I think it was a little more adult than their usual movies, but it was very good nonetheless.
Rob says:
It got bad reviews?
Berlinda says:
Yes it did, everyone said it was terrible, critics and regular old viewers.
Rob says:
Really, I had no idea. When I first saw the footage of this one, I couldn't help but think it was gonna be a fine dvd because of the computer animation and its sound potential. Personally, when I watched it the first time, I enjoyed it. True, it did seem to resemble a rehashing of an old story, but this modern day update in full DTS was a treat that I would take from a stranger any day.
Berlinda says:
If a stranger happened to be walking around handing out dvd's?
Rob says:
Not any dvd, a good dvd. No if's and's or but's.
Berlinda says:
Ok, I lost you. Anyway, I thought it was a really good movie. The surround sound started out a little slow, almost as if they were making the dvd and realized a half hour into it "Oh no! We forgot DTS!", but after that it sounded really nice. Very good use of surround sound. And the picture was so nice, I wish I could be in a few spots in that movie right about now.
Rob says:
Yea, personally I would love to be standing on a sandy beach, and then look at the moon... as it became eclipsed by a GIGANTIC meteor about to slam into the earth and fry all of my friends and family!
Berlinda says:
Ok, I would like to be at a nicer part of the movie. The movie for me was sad, because no matter what happens in the end, we know that the dinosaurs die one way or another. How depressing. Anyway, this movie has nice special features, including a game, a "dinopedia," trailer, and other small extras.
Rob says:
What exactly is a "dinopedia"?
Berlinda says:
Dinopedia is an encyclopedia that shows all the dinosaurs and gives little tidbits of information. There is also a behind the scenes featurette which Rob is a fan of.
Rob says:
Oh I love those cute little featurettes. But really, on the sound side, I think that this movie's DTS track has great separation, and great use of the surrounds overall, especially in breaking up the music, the did a fantastic job of filling the room with an orchestra of music and then to have a giant dino-eating dino run over and across the screen has never sounded better. On the video side, I had originally thought that this movie was totally done in computer graphics. However, when I popped this baby in my machine, I found that it was actually filmed using a lot of real-life footage, a ton of the backdrops were real as well as all of the water I can think of, it was really neat how they incorporated cg and real-life so well, at most times you completely forget, and then you realize, "Damn, this is good".
Berlinda says:
So, let the ratings begin. The sound is one of the better ones we have seen lately, I give it a 4.25. The video was very nice, I give it a 4.75. The extras were cool, I give them a 3.75, and the movie itself gets a 4.25 from me (it's a little violent for our teeny fans out there).
Rob says:
Hey, I wonder if some teenage girls out there worship me like they do Justin Timberlake?
Berlinda says:
I meant teeny as in teeny-tiny, but I'm sure some girls do. How can they resist your wit?
Rob says:
You manage to...
Berlinda says:
Haha, yes I do. How do you rate the movie?
Rob says:
Anyways... For me, I liked this one a good deal, so we are gonna see some unusually high marks. For the sound, as I said above, this is a great one folks. The DTS track is simply fannnn-tastic, if you like treating your ears once in a while, this is a good grab. I am going to give it a 4.5 star rating. As well with the video, its really neat and also, being integrated as I said, is really quite unique. I am going to give it a 4.5 star rating as well(I am partial to cg. For the extras, I am going to have to be a little more generous than my counter-part here, it does have a game after all... I give it a 4 star rating. The movie itself, as I said before, I don't think it is a one-hundred percent original idea, so that is gonna take away a bit, but other than that, the writing was pretty good, I will give it a 3.75 star rating. That is gonna bring the total to....... I know you are dying with anticipation...... 4.00 STARS! Woo hoo.
Berlinda says:
Oh yeah, and my total is 4.25 stars. Ok folks, our time is up, but we'll see you next time!!
Rob says:
I can't believe that these guys still try to get us out of here using cattleprods. OUCH!
Berlinda says:
Maybe you should leave the cows alone next time. Take this as a lesson viewers!! Goodnight!
Rob says:
Good-OUCH-night office-chair potatoes! Hasta la vista... Baby.
