Rob gave Dr.Dolittle...

Berlinda gave Dr.Dolittle...

Rob says:
Hello Berlinda.

Berlinda says:
Hello Robbie.
Rob says:
What are we here to review today my dear?

Berlinda says:
We are here to review Dr.Dolittle, a movie starring Eddie Murphy, that follows his life as he realizes he can communicate with animals...what a lucky guy!
Rob says:
Hehehe, I feel the same way, and in most cases, I think that the people who wrote this movie had a good idea of what animals would say if they could. One of my favorite parts is when there is a doggie going in to get neutered, and he is exclaiming to his owner "No no" because he doesn't want his manhood cut off, but then he sees a female of the species and begins with, "Oooo, hey baby..." that just cracked me up, and is ever so better when you watch it in the movie. That is just one of a lot of funny scenes. This is a great movie and how Murphy first reacts to his new found ability is simply hilarious.

Berlinda says:
Yes very good movie...Rob which one do you like better, the first one or the second one? I think I like the second one better, you can't beat the raccoon.
Rob says:
True true, while the raccoon is definately the best character in the series, I feel that the first movie is just a lot funnier than the second one. Answer me this isn't it usually funnier the first time someone gets hit in the face with a pie than it is the second time?

Berlinda says:
But it's two completely different situations...in the first movie he discovers his gift, and in the second one it shows him using it to help out.
Rob says:
Just answer the question!

Berlinda says:
Yes, it is funnier the first time.
Rob says:
Ok, thank you, my point exactly. Now well they are different, I just think that the situation in the first movie is funnier where Murphy almost thinks he has lost his mind, and its just a zainier atmosphere.

Berlinda says:
Ok, I guess we have to agree to disagree. So, what did you think of sound, video, etc?
Rob says:
Well, the sound was pretty decent, they made some good use of the surrounds in this one, in one scene you hear a dog yelling at the Dr. from behind you, I always get a good kick out of that. The video too was pretty good, not too much edge enhancing, and the colors were pretty decent. The special features however, were quite a let down, alls they had to offer was a stinking trailer. Now come on this movie must of had a butt-load of deleted scenes and behind the scenes footage, but they were just lazy, and that is too bad, cuz I, and a lot of other viewers would have liked them.

Berlinda says:
Yeah, and this is supposed to be a special edition!!! HA! Anyways, as for ratings, I give video a 3.25, sound a 3.25, extras a 1.5, and the movie itself a 4. So, I will give the dvd (not the movie) a 3. How about you?
Rob says:
Yea, that is unbelievable, whats special? A trailer, my friends, does not a special edition make. But for the video I will give a 3.5, the sound I will dollop a 3.25, for the extras, I will garnish with 1, and for the movie itself, I will give it a 4 out of five star rating. As for the dvd as a whole, I am going to have to give it a 3.25, even though the movie is better, the disc on a whole is lackluster.

Berlinda says:
Yes, the dvd was disappointing...maybe they will come out with a real Special Edition. Ok people, we are signing off, and in the words of Wolfgang Puck, "Live, Love and Eat!"
Rob says:
I hope so, I am sure they can find some good extras, maybe clean up the picture and sound some more, and we will have a real winner. Until next time folks, I'll see you in dvd land Berlinda!
