Today we are here to review The Runaway Bride.
Berlinda says:
This is a romance comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, and also has Joan Cusak making a good performance.
Rob says:
Yes, Richard and Julia team up once again in a performance that is on par with that love story of a business man and a young whore, Pretty Woman.
Berlinda says:
Not quite the same...Ike Graham (Richard Gere)is a reporter who is sent to get his vindication after writing a false story about Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) who runs away from weddings at the altar, and is about to get married again. This story is good, it's funny and good for wide audiences. The performances are good and the movie left me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
Rob says:
Yea, though you get the same feeling if you down a whole container of hot Fluff. I was surprised I actually liked this movie. When it first came out, I had no interest in watching it, but now that Berlinda has it, we sat down to watch it, and it turned out to be pretty good I must say.
Berlinda says:
Gentlemen, don't count this one out. Yeah, it's a "chick flik" but still, it's good.
Rob says:
True True... Sooo... didn't you use to have the hots for old Richy boy?
Berlinda says:
No, I didn't. His character in this movie is likeable, and so is Julia's. The chemistry between them jumps off the screen and makes you wish you had someone like Ike.
Rob says:
Oh yea? Well it made me wish I had someone like Maggie, so there.
Berlinda says:
Ok, but the first time I saw this movie, I wasn't dating you. And if it will make you feel better I'll ditch you at the altar. Anyway, the video for this movie was nice and clear. To me the picture was nice, but my eyes are honestly not as well trained as Rob's are. The sound was nice, nothing special but it had some nice moments. I thought they could have done more with the sound but then again, it's a romance comedy, so there isn't much opportunity, but they put in some nice surround sound when possible.

True True, like the sounds of Julia Robert's HUGE lips smacking together when she talked....
For these types of movies, I generally don't expect to much from the sound category.
But it was decent.
And no, your eyes aren't as trained as mine, but, you didnt spend eight years in the secret service did you.

Oh yea... well, umm... I wasn't talking about meee silly.
Berlinda says:
As for special features, there is a commentary with director Gary Marshall, the trailer and a dixie chicks video. That's it. Kinda disappointing.
Rob says:
Well, it's at least better than those dvd's with just the trailer... BOY, those sure do get my goat!
Berlinda says:
Yeah, they suck even more. So, for me, I give the movie itself 4.25 stars, the video 3.75, the sound 3.5, and the special features a 3. I guess overall that gives Runaway Bride about 3.5 stars. How about you?
Rob says:
Well, I am going to give the video a 4, the sound a 3 (average fare gets an average rating), a 3 to the the special features and a three and three quarter stars for the movie itself. So overall, for me, Runaway Bride gets a 3 and 1/4 star rating.
Berlinda says:
You're so biased
You're just saying all that because you said we had to be harder raters.
Rob says:
No, I am saying it cuz I LOVE action movies!

Can you settle for giving Runaway Bride a 3.5?
