Rob says:
Hello Berlinda.
Berlinda says:
Hello Robbie.
Rob says:
How are you on this deeeelightful evening?
Berlinda says:
Good and you?
Rob says:
I am doing absolutely goooorgeous.
Berlinda says:
We are here to review Rush Hour 2, which brings back Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan for a hilarious sequel, and in my opinion, it's better than the first.
Rob says:
INDUBIDIBLY! This is a glorious excursion down Movie Goer Lane, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Berlinda says:
As did I Robert. As did I.
Rob says:
I believe this movie is supposed to take place right after the first one ends where we saw Carter(Tucker) on a plane to Japan with his new best friend Lee(Chan). It turns out that this was not going to be a vacation for either of them as Lee keeps being thrown into case after case while Carter is in town, the last of which eventually brings them back to America for a rather amusing inter-continental hootinanny. One of my favorite parts is when they are in Japan and the duo head to a karaoke bar in which Carter winds up on stage doing his best Michael Jackson impression, which I, as a lifelong Jackson fanboy, can say is impressive and hilarious at the same time.
Berlinda says:
Hootinanny? Yes that I think is my favorite part of the movie. But the whole thing is good. But he's got nothing on my MJ impression. Actually his is a lot better. Anyway, I love this movie. Rob, would you care to break it down, sound-wise etc?
Rob says:
Ahee-hee-heeeee... And by the by, you do a damn fine impression, exclamation on the fine! Sound wise, the dts track had great seperation and a ton of usage in the surrounds which I always love, I simply always get a kick out of people talking or things blowing up behind me. The effects and music was crisp and clear and really makes watching it all the more enjoyable, after all, sound is one of draws to dvd, to me anyway.
In the video department, this too was handled very well, the transfer is almost completely free of artifacts and edge enhancing, just a beautiful clean image, which is good because its an Infinifilm Edition, which is New Line's top release edition, so it should be damn good!
Can you hit us up with a special features review?
Berlinda says:
The extras were cool, there are deleted scenes, outtakes, a commentary, choreography, too much to list here. Of course my favorite are the outtakes, I always get a kick out of that.
Rob says:
Yea, I agree, I just never get enough of seeing that little chinese man get hurt. Seeing him get smashed in the face with a stick time after time just does it for me for some reason...
Berlinda says:
Ok I meant when they mess up their lines, but I know you like seeing people in pain, that's why you continue to date me. Anyway, I give this dvd a 4.25 for video, 4 for sound, extras a 4.25, and the movie a 4. So,that give us...4.125. I think I shall round down in this case, because there are too many scantily clad women, as well as a nude male behind, the likes of which I could have lived without...and you Rob?
Rob says:
The male booty was a definite plus for me thank you... The video gets a 4.25, the sound gets a 4.25, the extras a 4.25 and the movie gets a 4. This is just a gosh darn good movie, really enjoyable and when a sequel turns out better than the first its always a plus, the chemistry between Tucker and Chan just oozes and it makes it all the funnier, or is it just cuz he is chinese, well whatever the case, this turned out really good, and while it may not be considered a "classic" it is one to keep next to your player. I give it an overall 4 out of 5 stars, remember, I am stingy with stars, so this is really good.
Berlinda says:
Ok people, our job is done, we hope you liked the review, see you next time!
Rob says:
In the words of Shakespeare, "It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all..."
Berlinda says:
I don't think Shakespeare said that.
Rob says:
Nevermind that, that statement has nothing to do with anything, not even on a metaphorical level. So with that cute little conclusion, I will bid you, Berlinda, and all of my ravenous fans, adieu.
Berlinda says:
Until next time, this is Berlinda signing off for Robbie and Berlinda at the movies. Adios!
