We gave The Grinch Who Stole Christmas...

During Christmas; Any other day of the year;

Berlinda says:
Hello Robbie.
Rob says:
Hello Berlinda.
How are you doing today?
Berlinda says:
I am ok, are you finished with your Christmas shopping?
Rob says:
Well, I am almost done with YOUR presents, and then I have to buy for everyone else.
How about you?
Berlinda says:
I am done with you, and some family and friends. I still have to buy presents for my mom and dad. So, today we are here to review the big screen adaptation of Dr.Suess' The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Rob says:
Ah yes, fun family fare for one and for all. This is a LIVE adaptation of Dr. Seuss's animated christmas classic. What kid doesn't know about The Grinch and how "he's a rotter" and a "King of sinful sots!"

Berlinda says:
I love this cartoon, and it's neat to see it live. However, I think that that some kids might be scared by Mr.Grinch( if they are like me, and find his face and especially his fingers to be SCARY). For me this was a comedy/horror/feel good film.
Rob says:
LOL. A new genre that I am sure will pick up and become the only type of movie that is produced. But really, this movie is something special, the sets and costumes and makeup alone are quite impressive. If I didn't know it was live action, I would have guessed that was the Grinch we have all come to know and love. It is truly amazing what they did, you can barely ever tell that it is Jim Carrey under all that makeup, except for a couple of lines that sound like him. But its really neat to see the cartoon come to life, which is really what this movie is. The only real difference is that they also added some back story into the Grinch's past which is quite amusing.
Berlinda says:
Yeah, who knew Who's could be so meanhearted ...anyway, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie, even though I had nightmares the following night. Jim Carrey does an awesome job, and so does Ron Howard (director). There might be a little objectional content so this isn't strictly a kids movie. Well, let's go on to rating. I was really surprised at how good the sound was in this movie...not what you expect from a comedy at all. The picture was nice, and the extras were good too.
Rob says:
I definately agree on the sound. Excellent use of the surrounds on this one, they did a great job of positioning and just using really every chance they had, a good and surprising treat on this one. The film quality, on the other hand, I didn't think was all too good. I am not sure if it was supposed to be this way, but I found that the movie had a hazy look to it and they made the film look as if it had been dropped in a bucket of dust before they put it on disk. Some parts where nice and clear but others just seemed dirty. And as for the extras, there are a ton of them on this one, extended scenes, bloopers, kids games, and a host of others load this disc up nice.
Berlinda says:
Just for the record folks, Rob is the expert on the film quality...I think everything is pretty. Oh, and I remember one more thing about the movie itself is the dog. I felt really bad for the poor thing. I know it was trained and stuff and it didn't really have to pull the heavy sleigh up a mountain, but I still felt bad for it, maybe when you watch you will understand.
Rob says:
Aww, thats my girl, they say her heart grew 2 times that day...
Berlinda says:
Ha...well, for the movie I give it...3.75 stars (I love scary movies), for sound 4.25, video 3.5, extras a 4. I guess that averages out to...3.875...hmm, because it's Christmas I will round up to a 4...but when X-mas season is done it will be a 3.75.
Rob says:
I give the movie 3.75 stars, video a 3, sound 4.25 and extras 3.75.
Berlinda says:
So our combined score is...3.75?
Rob says:
Sounds good to me.
Watch out this Christmas folks, we are sure to be adding a ton of new movies after christmas, and boy are they gonna be GOOD! So keep in touch, and you better watch out, cuz Santa CLAWS is coming... tooooo... KILL YOU! HAHA. Just kidding, Have a Merry Christmas!
And Berlinda, you better watch out cuz you might be looking a a big lump of COAL! That is, if your not extra nice to me.
Berlinda says:
Are you getting me movies for Christmas?
Rob says:
No, I am getting you an apron woman, now go in the kitchen and bake me a pie!
Berlinda says:
Riiiiiiight...
Rob says:
Ok OK! I am sorry, I dont wanna sleep on the couch!

Berlinda says:
Merry Christmas everybody!! See you soon!
Rob says:
I have had enough of whozappers and whoclappers, enough of koostackers and blue wrappers... and no, i said NO more ROAST BEAST! Have a merry CHRISTMAS! And to all a good night.
