U-571

We gave U-571...

Rob says:
Hello Berlinda.
Berlinda says:
Hello Rob
Rob says:
How are you on this beautiful cusp of fall day?
Does that sentance even make sense?
Berlinda says:
Why are you talking about the weather? When someone reads this it could be summer.
Rob says:
Well this way they will know it was on the cusp of fall when they read it.
Berlinda says:
I'm fine how are you?
Rob says:
I am just trying to show some compasionativity towards our audience and their curiosity to what time of the year it is.
Berlinda says:
Can you be serious please?
Rob says:
Well yes I can.
So my dear, what are we here to review today?
Berlinda says:
We are here to review U-571, a movie that takes place in World War II
Rob says:
Indeed, this movie focuses on the mayhem that took place under the waters of the Atlantic ocean. The stranded German sub, U-571, is carrying a decoding device that the Americans are dying to get there hands on because up to this point, the Nazi's are ruling the seas with the hit and run tactics of their submersables. An american sub is deployed to intercept and retrieve the coding device at which point the Americans are forced to board the Nazi sub and use it to return the hijacked coding device to Allied forces and thwart the German advance.
Berlinda says:
This was a very good movie. I normally don't really like war movies, but this movie had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, and that is the honest truth. The suspense is incredible.
Rob says:
I agree, very very well produced. Very entertaining, there isnt one point that gets too technical or too historical, it balances action and adventure, the story pulls you in and makes you feel like part of the crew, you feel the need for them to get to safe waters.
Berlinda says:
The sounds were awesome, the picture was awesome, the story was awesome...this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Rob, can you talk about the sound?
Rob says:
Oh can I!
Boy o boy, this movie has some of the best sound io have heard, guns going off, the bullets ricocheting all over the sub and u can hear them from down the hall from around the corner behind you, everywhere. And there is a scene that takes place in the rain, it is awesome, it makes you feel like you are standing in the rain with them, there is a part where they submerge which is truly awesome as well, you can hear the water swooshing past your ears and the bubbles bubbling past you. And definately one of the best parts is when the sub starts creaking because of the pressure, its as if you are in the sub and u can feel and hear it start to give way, the iron beams start to bend, it is truly truly awesome.
Berlinda says:
Yes the sound is very good, you can hear voices all around you, creaking, it adds to the suspense.
Rob says:
The video quality itself is also very very good, u get black blacks and you can see every little drop of rain in that sequence, its amazing. The colors are crisp, the definition is great, overall an exquisite transfer. Don't you think dear?
This dvd also has a butt-load, excuse me, I mean boat-load of extra features.
Berlinda says:
This movie has a lot of stuff, like documentaries and historical information. Pretty neat stuff.
Rob says:
There is enough stuff on this bad boy to keep you going for awhile.

Berlinda says:
As a movie I give U-571 4.5 stars, video 4, sound 5, and extras 3 (not as fun as I would have hoped).....so overall I give U-571 4.5 stars.
Rob says:
I'm gonna give the movie and its special features 4 stars, and the video, and audio a 5. Overall, this disc ears a four and a half rating from me. I give it a four in special features because if anyone were to have any questions after the movie, they could be answered in the special features, which is neat.

Berlinda says:
Well folks, that would make U-571 get a rating of 4.5 stars....I hope you enjoyed our review!!
Rob says:
So thanks for coming today, and in case I don't see ya later, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!
