Saguache, Colorado
West Side of Main Street - Dallas Block
Across the alley, north of the Saguache Hotel, stands an
old building which has served many purposes down through the years.
Early day pictures show this to have been the “Stockmen’s Club” this was
a saloon run by Roll Means. Years later it was called “Nix Place”,
an ice cream parlor and sandwich shop, where young folks could meet and
dance to a “Victrola”. When I was a boy in the 30’s, it was W. J.
Werner’s plumbing shop. In the 50’s, his daughter had the town’s
first Laundromat at this location.
