Makin' Vigas

What have we learned?

  • Tree bark is most easily peeled when the tree is still green (there's a sort of suction of the bark, but once you have a good start with the knife it comes away smooth and clean)

  • Even the green trees are still a lot of work

Mike has made a special "bench" for peeling Vigas Viga peeling bench
Mike demonstrates peeling a viga using a draw-knife. Notice most of the bark has already been peeled off, probably by the photographer. Mike peeling a viga
Jo is disturbed temporarily for a photo. Note there's a lot of bark left to be peeled off. Jo Peeling a Viga
