I don't know if I'll actually continue with the piece but as long as I'm still in the house I can continue with it.
I really haven't been in the sun enough this summer and so right now I'm caught between this writing experiment and getting out and enjoying the day. So who knows how much longer I will last. I still have a few things to do before I go out mind you, like wash my hair and braid it. And change the kitty litter. So we'll see...
Black & White
I wonder what would it be like to be interrogated by the police? What reason would I (or a character like me) be interrogated by the Police?
They find out who her brother is. He is on the run and they are positive that he is going to come to her.
"Miss Belanger, we need to ask you questions about your brother Nick." the built officer says. He has a soft expression like he might actually believe what Nadine will say.
The other cop, the chubby one has a sour expression. He looks like all the stereotypes that black people have of the brutal cop just looking to abuse another black criminal. In this cops eyes, all black people are criminals.
Nadine wanted to trust that the cops would see her as she was, a good hard working citizen but she also had to be realistic. Whenever she talked about her brother and his past criminal activities, nadine always imagined that people were envisioning a black man. She wanted to announce before she told any story about her brother that although she was black, her brother Nick was white.
She admitted that she had issues surrounding race and colour. Deep down she believed that most people still saw black people in sterotypes and because of that she had to hold onto some of the stereotypes she was raised with about white people and the police in order not to be blind sighted.
