Tips For A Healthy Lifestyle

  1. Always consult your doctor before starting an exercise or food program.
  2. Exercise regularly at least 5 times every week.
  3. Follow a healthy eating program that encourages food from every food group. Two of the best that I know of are Richard Simmon's Deal A Meal and Weight Watcher's 123. I have been using Deal A Meal.
  4. Drink enough water! Your body needs at least 48-64 ounces of water every day!! Here is a trick that works for me: I bought 2 1-liter bottles of water and when the water was gone I saved the bottles and just refill them. As long as I drink at least two of these bottles of water every day, I know that I am getting the water that my body needs. If you would like more info on why water is so important, just email me and I will send you more info.
  5. Eat the correct portions...even low fat food will make you gain weight if you eat the whole box or bag. That is why it is so important to follow a healthy food program, one that teaches you what a regular portion size should be.
  6. Get a good food scale! Don't eyeball your portions...everyone's eyeballs are different!!
  7. Procrastination is a good thing when making healthy choices. If you are tempted to make an unhealthy choice, just say to yourself, "I don't have to eat that today, I can always eat it tomorrow!" Most of the time when I do this, tomorrow never comes.
  8. Connect with friends who will support you in your journey. the friendships I have made at Richard Simmon's website have been a life saver for me!

  9. Above all....Don't wait to get motivated!! First you need to make the Decision to do something about your weight. Next, you need to choose the tools you want to use and take the Action to use those tools. Then, once you have taken action, the motivation will kick in and keep you going. Remember...Decision, Action, Motivation!!
