Deidre Hall originally joined Days of Our Lives as the compassionate Dr. Marlena Evans in 1976. Hall left the series in 1987 to focus on a career in primetime television and returned to Days in August 1991. She has earned three Emmy Award nominations and three People's Choice Award nominations for her work on Days of Our Lives. She was named Outstanding Actress six times in the 12-year history of the Soap Opera Digest Awards.
Hall starred as Jesse Witherspoon on the primetime drama series Our House and appeared in many miniseries and television movies, including And the Sea Will Tell, Woman on a Ledge, For the Very First Time and Take My Daughters, Please. She has also made guest appearances on several primetime series, including Wiseguy. Her stage credits include A. R. Gurney's Love Letters.
Hall, who has an identical twin, was born in Milwaukee and raised in Florida. She is married to novelist Steve Sohmer (Favorite Son) and they have two children. Hall enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Her birthday is October 31.
