School Spirit and Sports Fans

I always enjoyed school. I mean I always enjoyed learning. I didn't always enjoy the daily struggle of being a teenager in jr. high and high school. I have since discovered that even the most "popular kids" didn't enjoy school life.

My husband and I received a degree in elemenary education from the college now known as Truman State University. I taught elementary and middle school reading and language arts for several years, then began working at The University of Iowa.

We have encouraged our children to get the most out of the educational oportunities offered in this area, and it would appear that we were successful. Our oldest graduated from The University of Iowa and is teaching kindergarten. The other two are in college working hard toward promising careers. Way to go kids!

I feel that education involves more than just "book learnin'", as my grandfather used to call it. I include in this section sites that showcase college sports. I am a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and proudly wear my black and gold. I also include a a connection for Iowa State University. My brother and several close friends are grads of the cross-state rival, so I could not ignore the Cyclones.

The educational environment of today shows little resemblance to the schools I attended. But, back when we rode dinosaurs to school, as my kids like to tease, I learned to learn, and that has brought me and my classmates far.
