This NBA Season
In Depth

With 52 games, out of shape players, no Jordan, and women referees, the 1999 season (notice it isn't '98-'99) may be more intriguing than ever. Many people have bashed the NBA for too long a season and lack of intensity in games. Many fans have given up on their NBA teams in the midst of the Bulls dynasty. Will this season finally reverse these complaints?

The NBA faces many challenges coming off it's first work stoppage in history: Turned off fans, poor quality of play, drops in revenue, and no Jordan. Will the average fan care? Will borderline fans be gone forever? And why should the media even cover a tainted season?

Many of these questions have already been answered. A free-agent feeding frenzy got fans back in the thick of things. No Jordan means every team has a shot. The shorter season has picked up the intensity. The only bad thing so far is the vast amount of injuries to out-of-shape players.

Now comes the time for predictions.
