In 1760 two brothers, John and Francis Eslick came to America via Cornwall England and Holland.
They settled in North Carolina. In 1780 Levi and Frank Eslick, sons of Francis Eslick, moved to middle
Tennessee, Levi married and settled in Lincoln County Tennessee, where some of his descendants still live.
Frank, now married and a Baptist preacher, settled in Christian Co. Ky. The oldest of his eight children,
Samuel was born in the late 1780's. He was educated to be a doctor. He also taught school, farmed and owned
a power mill in Kentucky. In 1806, he married a Ms. Pennington. Their third child was Artis L. Eslick.
After his first wife's death, Sam married Lavinia Davis, who is by family legand reported to have been relation
to Martha Custis Washington, and Jefferson Davis was her nephew, he was later President of the Confederacy
during the civil war. Samuel and Lavinia Eslick had nine children. Sometime in the early 1800's they moved to Bartholomew
Co. Inidana. In 1828 Artis L. Eslick married Cecilia (Sally) McBride, daughter of John McBride and Susannah/Susan David,
daughter of Edward David and Ann Robertson.

Artis and Sally had four children before leaving Indiana for Missouri. Their first child Ezekiel Eslick was born in 1829.
In early 1839, Samuel, Artis and other members of their families migrated to Missouri, first settling in Taney County on Swan
Creek near Forsyth. Sam was the first school teacher at Swan Creek School. He also had a power mill there. Some of the Eslicks
later moved to Iowa, Artis and Sally stayed in Missouri moving to Arno in Douglas County Mo. Six more children were born in Douglas County.

In 1850, Ezekiel married Elizabeth Marler, daughter of Josiah and Nancy Bohannon Marler. they had 10 children most of them born in or near Ava.
However daughter Celia Jane Eslick is reported as being born in Ark. Ezekiel Eslick was a member of the Missouri Home Guards in Webster County
during the Civil War. Ezekiel and Elizabeth Eslick are buried in the Fannon Cemetery.
