The Pure One Speaks--1999 Season Sum-Up

THE PURE ONE SPEAKS

Editor's note: This was written September 15, 1999.

Well, after a long and grueling season, champions have been finally crowned and even though most of our nightmares came true, we have to salute the SabreCats...Actually screw 'em. The SabreCats were undeniably a sloppy team with their leading turnover man Jay Hartley and "ram 'em and score" man Joker Hartley. They triumphed over the Titans, who destroyed them in Game 1 by 20 points or so while the Cats scrapped by with a few points in the last two games to win, so I don't give them credit for pulling off a steady victory. However, they pulled of a victory nonetheless and that's all I got to say about that.

In mid-season, on the hottest day of the year (nailing 115 degrees heat index) pussy boy "The Kid" Carter did a no-show, cause it was hot, so the HBL found itself not being able to continue. The Pure One himself took the place on the Titans and became the HBL's pimpin' clutch player. Not to blow my own horn, but I shot amazingly in the last three weeks of the season which was with the Titans...Hmmmm, what does that mean. Domino did a great part as well and was edged out of winning the MVP, but he was probably screwed. Funny I say that, considering I was one of the men that screwed him...HAHAHAHA. The Titans finished above .500 which was a great surprise to most of the other players, but when you've got a dominating inside player along with a clutch outside shooter, you're gonna pay. The future of the Titans hangs in the balance, but the Titans as an organization will be back since the Lightning quit mid season and the Titans went to the HBL finals.

The Warriors...Good god, what can we say about them. The two-time defending champs got blasted during the regular season, mostly by the Cats and later in the season by the Titans when Carter was still with them. After the Warriors found themselves in the playoffs against the Titans when PureSugar joined, the Titans were ambitious and took the Warriors out in the first game and in the second game. It was close at the half of Game 2...Until Domino and PureSugar hit about ten 3-pointers a piece and won the game by 40 points. A great day to be a Titan, a dark day to be a Warrior. The Warriors were not effective this year and I give alot of that credit to one Chris Hartley. Shooter is the dominating force and leader on that team with Dee's passing skills, but Shooter was constantly frustrated and lazy on defense...Mostly on Domino.

The Lightning...Who cares.

As for the SabreCats, they finished the HBL champs, a doomsday for all HBL players and staff, but them. Joker finished with his 334,243,356,755,254,883,236,234,256.89 rebounds he usually gets while Jay finished the season with most turnovers, but leading his team despite a poor season performance by his teammate, and then finished his celebration by making sweet love to the basketball rim which was a pleasureful site. Jay played well, but some of his over-dramatic moves and passes make him look pretty dumb so if you add it up, he looks pretty dumb most of his time on the court.

Now as for the future, PureSugar has looked at his options. I'm sincerely dedicated to going to a wrestling school in Chicago, despite who thinks it's dumb or a hopeless dream. (and you know who you are cause I know who you are) Everyone knows about this and I haven't decided for sure yet, but I would like to stay in the HBL one last year and try to win that title I haven't gotten yet. It's not for sure. I'll have an answer for everyone by March for sure, but we've got a long time for that so just relax and enjoy the words of...The Pure One.
