Chlorine is a pungent smelling, Corrosive, gas. It is very heavy gas and readily available by most materials. Its properties relay mainly on its oxidizing power. The monitoring aspect of chlorine to avoid serious health risks, corrosive to  metals like M.S. Aluminum etc. HUSAINITM offers chlorine gas leak detector with electrochemical sensor which only detects Chlorine in air. No cross sensitivity to any other gases like HCl, SO2, NH3, to avoid false alarm.

Click for Enlargement Chlorine Sensor is a galvanic cell consisting of metal wire electrodes in electrical contact via an electrolyte. The cathode is internal and is shield from the atmosphere by a wrapping of absorbent material which acts as a porous diagram and electrolyte support. The anode is wound over this support and is the sensing electrode. When this electrode is exposed to chlorine a current proportional to concentration of chlorine is produced which is amplified and signal is used for indication of concentration of chlorine. This is also used to trip alarm circuits at preset points. So does not dry is liberated from it by chlorine. This improves the sensitivity because bromine has a greater solubility in water than chlorine. The bromine is reduced electrochemically at the anode giving rise to a current proportional to the number of atoms reduced.
