Background: Loni grew up on Bajor an orphan, he parents dying from starvation, so Loni grew up amoung an order of healers in the Bajoran highlands. There she was taught to wisdom of the Prophets and the techniques of healing used by the order. But that wasn't to last for long. The Cardassians found their order and came to arrest them for teaching their religon. The monks fled and were hidden by the resistance cells throughout Bajor, there Loni and the others healed the wounded and Loni herself even participated in several raids herself.
Then the Federation came. Or three doctors from it anyhow, it was there that Loni met T'Por a venrable doctor from Vulcan having come to aid the Bajorans. From her she learned the Terran Hippocratic oath as well as modern medical and counselling techniques. When the war was over, Loni left Bajor, for Starfleet, and with support of T'Por entered the Academy, where did extreamly well and even won herself a posting to the Enterprise for her cadet cruise. Unfortunately her methods clashed with Commander Troi's and Biran ended her tour with a reprimand on her record. Fortunately she was chosen for her tough nature by Captian Morgan who believed a tough counsellor is the only one who can get things done.
Currently Loni serves as Chief counsellor on the USS Backlash and has recently been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. And has married the intel officer, Duran Abandar.
