Personality: Kassandra Cross, Kassy to her friends, is outwardly a deicated professional, though if you get closer (a rarity with Kassandra) you find her deeper than her career and the number of short physical relationships she's had in the past. She is deeply afraid of losing people and being used by people. So she doesn't get close to too many people and uses people first. Though truthfully she is a dedicated doctor and will go to any length to defend a patient.
Background: Kassandra grew up on the most populated planet in the Federation, Rigel IV. A planet most known for it's crime. Kassandra was spared that part of Rigelian life by her parents good jobs, and Kassandra looked like she would have a very normal life. Except that by the time she was ten she could feel other peoples emotions. In trying to tell her busy parents that she could read their emotions, she was ignored and thought to be kidding around. So Kassandra decided to hide them. A descison she later found to be a good one as most sensitives on Rigel IV were either in the employ of the government or the crimelords either were not options that Kassandra wanted to explore. She wanted to de a doctor.
So Kassandra joined Starfleet. There she did well dispite several disasterous relationships that turned her off making close connections to anyone. And proceeded fairly well until her cadet cruise where she and the ship's CMO Laney Motgomery were transporting medical supplies to a colony when their was an accident and Doctor was injured. Cross could feel her pain but their was nothing that modern medicine could do. Suddenly something occured to Kassandra, she could pull the pain from the Doctor into her. She tried it and much to her surprise it resulted in the doctor being healed. Though the pain she felt took a toll on her and she passed out.
When she woke up she found herself in sickbay, and Doctor Montgomery was taking care of her. At the first moment she had alone, Kassandra asked if the Doctor had told Starfleet about the miraculous healing. She said no explaining that a power like that might be looked on as a tool by people and would put too much strain on Kassandra agreed, with the Doctor's assesment and they kept it their secret.
Now Kassandra serves on the Backlash in the capacity of Chief Medical Officer, and has shared her secret powers with only two people. Duran Abandar, and James Benson.
