NOTES:
Shuttlecraft: The shuttlebay of the USS Valiant carries four shuttles, two type 9 for defense and longer range missions where speed is required; and two type 7 shuttles for closer range diplomatic or scientific missions. The naming scheme for the shuttles is early Martian explorers.
Type 9: Arkady Bogdanov, carries 6, armed with type IV phaser.
Type 9: Maya Toitovna , carries 6, armed with type IV phaser.
Type 7: John Boone, carries 8, unarmed primary diplomatic shuttlecraft.
Type 7: Anne Clayborne, carries 8, unarmed, small planetary sciences labs set up in back.
Aerowing Auxiliary Craft: A large aerospace shuttle she is built for speed and maneuverability and is with the exception of the Talon class Scout ship, the most aerodynamic of all of Starfleet’s smaller ships. The Aerowing is capable of warp 3 and seats four people and can be equipped for multiple missions and is stored in the bottom of the saucer section.
Medical Labs: Lab One, is a chemistry lab for creating new drugs to assist the ship’s crew and for the staff to do research. Lab Two, multi-purpose medical lab with quarantine seal, primarily used for medical research by all the medical staff but also used for training.
EMH Mark II and the Emergency Triage Holoprogram: The EMH Mark II or ‘Mark’ to the crew. Is a fully interactive holo-program with a complete and often updated medical database. As such Doctor Dovos, the CMO of the Valiant uses it to assist in the medical labs when others in the medical staff are busy or often just to let him stretch his legs.
The Emergency Triage Holoprogram, was originally designed by Starfleet Medical to assist the medical staff of small vessels in emergencies. This allows for the replication of several orderlies and up to two nurses in the holodeck to assist the moving and treating of patients. All of these simulations have access the to the medical database used by the EMH, though to a lesser extent to avoid crashes or slower processing from the EMH who in it was decided would likely be doing delicate and important work in such an emergency.
Lounges and Gymnasium:The Forward Lounge located on deck two is open to all members of the crew and visitors and is the largest lounge on the ship. It is the main social area of the ship and has become the second home of the Chief Counselor who has taken the job of bartender and declared it an off-duty area, where rank becomes a non-issue except in emergencies. The original plan for the lounge included a private dining room for the Captain, that was changed and it was converted into a stage, that includes a large monitor on which the ship’s weekly Grav-ball games are shown.
Lounges 2-4 are smaller lounge set in the crew quarters sections of the ship and provide an area for crew to meet and talk. Lounge two is on the 2nd Officer’s deck and has been converted into a meeting/dining room, which is mainly used when there are dignitaries on board. Lounge three is a quiet area where people can read, or play games of 3D Chess without interruption. Lounge four is in the engineering hull and is filled with games like dom’jat, pool and strategema
The Gym The original plan for the gymnasium included weights and a small area padded for martial arts or gymnastics. Though when the Grav-ball obsession hit the ship all this was moved down to a part of cargo bay one, and the gym was made over to be a fully functional Grav-ball court on which teams from on ship meet to play every week. The gymnasium is the only place where gravity is left off almost 24 hours a day.
Special Systems: 3-Dimensional Viewer: This system allows for a 3D image to be displayed in front of the view screen allowing all 360 degrees around the ship to be viewed and to better plot courses, this mode is often used in battle situations to better understand the placement of vessels. Control of this feature is done either through the Command console or Ops Management.
Full ship holo-emitters: First tested on the Prometheus class vessel this allows for holograms to be projected into all crew inhabited areas of the ship. This was so the EMH could have access to more areas than just the Sickbay and Holodeck, though many of the crew have found uses for this system from creating holo-screens where needed to playing jokes on crewmates.
