RUC BRUTAL FORCE ON THE LOWER ORMEAU ROAD. 14th of Aug 1999.
There were violent scenes when Nationalist protesters staged a peaceful sit-down protest in an attempt to block the hate-filled Apprentice Boys parade route along Belfast's lower Ormeau Road. The RUC get ready to moved in to remove demonstrators sitting on the Road.
The RUC start to beat on men, women and children.
Protesters were kicked about the face and dragged away and beating again.
Lower Ormeau Concerned Community leader Gerard Rice, try’s to clam things and is beating by the RUC.
A 19 year old man is hit over the head by RUC.
Gerard Rice said "It was brutal. It was the worst we have ever had in this area."
The RUC now pulled out of the area and walk side by side with the Apprentice Boys parade.
