Death is Not a Goodbye
On one cold January day,
God took you to his side,
And made your soul an angel,
As I looked on and cried.
I understood his purpose,
To relieve you of your pain,
And even though it hurts me still,
I will see you again.
It gives me relief to know,
Your hurt and pain are gone,
To know your soul is resting,
Helps me carry on.
I send my prayers to heaven,
And my love to you,
In hopes that you are happier,
In the place you have gone to.
And now when I see you,
In your glory,
A tear comes to my eye.
But it’s only now,
That I realize,
Your death is not a goodbye.
