Goodbyes Are Not Forever

It was there last night I saw you,

I never thought it would come to this,

But your days with us were over,

You’d never be coming back.

So I went to you and said farewell my friend,

I just couldn’t say goodbye,

I stood there and looked at you,

Soon your arms were around me,

For possibly the very last time,

And as you wiped a tear from my eye,

You whispered to me this bit of wisdom:

Goodbyes are not forever,

We will always be together,

No matter how far we are apart,

There will always be a special place for you,

Deep within my heart.
