We Are

I don’t know how we’ve come so far,

Everyone around us said we woudn’t make it,

But here we are...

You and me the best of friends,

We have grown so much together,

You showed me who I am.

I never thought I would call you mine,

The distance seemed too far to cross,

But somehow, someway we did it.

You filled my empty heart with love and joy,

I could not ask for more than I have now,

You are everything to me.

I am not a perfect man,

But you see past my faults to the person I am inside,

You make me see my own self worth.

Before I met you I was someone different,

Someone shy, someone insecure and unsure,

You gave me the strength to carry on.

I have little to offer for all you’ve done for me,

I am not a man of many words or many strengths,

But remember that no matter what, I will always love you.
