Dear Sue,
I want to tell you about the fabulous work happening at the Weisman Art Museum. Their education program accomplishes everything you've been trying to implement at ABC Elementary School! Staff at Weisman encourage exploration in the arts through activities like dance, dramatic readings, music, and movies. They strive to create relevant presentations for school children, families and university students. Weisman offers classes, tours, workshops, and lunchtime programs. The museum's home page links to two excellent web sites filled with interactive activities, photographs, lesson plans, and information for kids (and teachers) unable to visit the museum.
The University of Minnesota provides basic operating support for the museum, but outside sources provide the money to fund programs and exhibitions. As Weisman looks to expand educational programing, they need to find people willing to support them financially. I know you feel strongly about quality arts education and would like to ask if you'll consider supporting the Weisman museum and it's programs. I'll call you next week, so we can further discuss the programs and need for support.
