It is unfortunate that the reviewer could not test the LFB Converter with
a digital AM-FM car receiver, which is the type of receiver where the LFB
converter shines against other converters when comparing stability, both
long and short term.
It is also our experience that ignition and alternator noise can almost be
eliminated with proper suppression methods among which are:
1) Resistor ignition wires
2) Resistor spark plugs
3) Strapping of hood and fenders to car body
4) Capacitor (2u2 F ) at + side of ignition coil to ground
5) Capacitor (2u2 F) at + output
of alternator to ground
Experience also shows it is more difficult to suppress noise in intermitent
electrical DC motors as in windshield wipers.
The general rule is to add ferrite inductors in series and also to add
capacitors to ground in parallel with the above motors , everything as
close as possible to the motor for avoiding electrical noise to travel through
the wire harness and become a noise transmitter.
