Confess your sins. The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) To confess is to admit that we are responsible for our own sins.
Repent. This literally means to turn away from sin. We must determine not to continue to sin, but to turn and walk away when tempted. This may seem impossible for us as mere humans, but once we have Jesus in us, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Phil. 4:13)
Have Faith. This faith is not just belief or asking for help, because "even the demons believe and tremble". (James 2:19) Faith requires commitment. "He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again." (2 Corinthians 5:15)
Ask. Jesus said, "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me." (Revelations 3:20) If you know that Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart, ask Him in. |
Your friends and family will see this change. Are you prepared to accept their criticism? You'll be called names like Fanatic, Jesus Freak, Holy Roller. However, these things will all be true now. These things are actually compliments. Your friends and family don't want to see you change. They are comfortable with the way you are, whether bad or good, because they are used to it. Remember, it's a change for them also and change is hard to accept. So, there must be patience here...and accept the criticism (or compliments, actually) with a loving heart.
Are you willing to lay aside your own wants, needs and desires for God's. Sometimes we desire things that we feel are right, but God knows better. We may not always get what we want because God knows the future. He knows that certain desires may end up harming us in some way up the road. Now that we are God's, we must desire what God wants for us, because He knows better. We must always remember, His ways are not our ways. We must learn His ways. We must be willing to accept the fact we can't always get what we want. But, we will also know it is because our God is protecting us under His wing. And there are reasons and purposes for things that happen to us that may not be revealed to us until later.
You will now work and live for God and He requires honesty and integrity in the workplace and all throughout our lives. Your money, your life, your belongings all belong to God. You will have to ask Him how to spend your money, live your life, and ask Him what He requires of your life.
Having considered these things, if you would like to ask Jesus to come into your life and be your Lord and Saviour, all you have to do is pray this prayer...
If you prayed this prayer from your heart, you are now a child of God. All the benefits of the Kingdom of God are now yours. This is not the end, this is only the beginning of a new and glorious life in Jesus. Now, what you must do in order not to lose the Salvation you just received.
