A "Good Day" Formula
by Dusty Reed

I have considered that there might be a possible formula for creating a sweet taste for good days. Today has been one of those. The only formula I see is previous preparation through prayer, quiet time and listening.

This preparation comes with no effort. It is received through willingness to flow with the touch of God's Spirit and by faithfully taking twenty or thirty minutes each day as quiet time to simply listen.

"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient" - II Timothy 2:24. There is a difference between trying to create a happening and flowing with what is happening. We can scurry the less favorables across the room and release them. Frequently, my scampering with them only takes long enough to know their names and then I release them.

The goodness shines through as enthusiasm, elation, being in harmony with all that exists. It offers an aroma of understanding and flowing with the God's creation. Activities are effortless. This energy permeates every trace of my life.

This good day formula happens through true communion with the Lord by simply taking quiet time to listen.

Affirm: "My good days are the result of obedience to God."

Joy of Obedience
by Dusty Reed

I hope this works!
What are you doing to make it work?
I'm dreaming of a beautiful tomorrow.
What are you doing with today…?

Obeying the Lord's instruction
Sometimes requires footwork.
If I'm listening and learning,
Today's work becomes my joy.

Get it Fixed
by Dusty Reed

"The great use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it." - William James

Why do I keep a broken appliance and try to tell myself, "someday I will get it fixed?" If I can get along without it while it is broken, most likely I can get along without it if it is excluded from my life.

A low priority can be tucked into a bottom drawer for an extended length of time. If it does not find utilization during the interim by necessity, banishment is essential. This technique gets rid of a lot of clutter. If we do not delete it, someone else will be required to toss it. Is it worth passing on to someone?

This applies to inner "appliances," as well. Are we trying to "fix" something that either does not really need fixed or that is not important? What about the issues that lie dormant within that could benefit our lives if they would become usable? Are we working to fix our relationship with others, with ourselves, with our life's activities?

As with any delayed, unfinished task, why fret about not getting it done if we are not willing to get it back into active duty right at the moment? There is only right now to "get it fixed."
