Revealing

What do we reveal to others about ourselves? Do we show a favorable personality, full of joy?
What traits are within, waiting to be exercised? A list of favorable adjectives can be put to good use.
A list of traits as observed by others can be a helpful tool. Keeping our desired traits in awareness and practicing those we want others to see can offer a healthy exercise.
What talents do we want to bring to our surrounding world? Is there a special enjoyment? Baking bread, playing a musical instrument, painting, public speaking, a craft, visiting with shut-ins, working with flowers or puttering in the garden can provide a wealth of gifts we can offer to others. Developing a talent into a service brings rewards rich beyond measure.
Life is for joy in every moment. Being happy with ourselves comes through giving of ourselves.

Meditation and reflection

Meditation and reflection
on the traits within
Are the joyful times each day
when I can leave on the light
To see the Lord working
in my life.
What purpose has life, if we don't take time for meditation and reflection? Meditation is simply taking quiet time for prayer, pondering how to reach our desires and, most important, listening for the answer.
I'm not always sure
where I am to go;
Which road to take,
which fork in the road to follow.
Could I do this today;
or would it be better I do that?
Where is a lesson for learning
to keep me growing?
Which way shall I go,
to be guided by my good?
It also gives opportunity to relax mind and body. Today's accepted busy life style, with all the interruptions, can provide a self-admitting excuse for not having time for a personal quiet retreat. Because today's life style can be hectic and stressful, is all the more reason to find and take daily personal time for reflection and guidance.

Where Is the Music?

Nature forms music. Trees turn wind into music through the rustling of leaves. The wind swishes and roars. Gurgling water is music. We hear up to twelve perfect notes as a clock chimes. Whales and dolphins have a song. Silence, amidst a snowfall, is music. A crackling fire. The tap, tap, tap of rain on the roof offers musical enchantment. Children frolicking and laughing is music.
The gathering of birds in our back yard can offer a veritable symphony. Bird songs and calls inspire tribal religious chants as well as symphonic compositions.
The hum of voices in a in a large restaurant, in a telemarketing firm, or in a busy mall create music.
A brood of chickens laying eggs creates a lovely chorus with the rooster's solo adding a special touch. When other farm animals, cattle and hogs, are ready to be fed, they cry out their songs. A cat purring is offering its song.
Music surrounds us when we are willing to take time to hear it.
