With Dusty From our guest writer this month: by Sunny Patten Bravely step forward in life. Walk through thoughts of fear and defeat before they make themselves at home. Wherever you are, participate in a full life. The joy of a giving and grateful heart will fill your thoughts. Such as attitude will stifle out fear. Fear controls and dominates out lives with a subtle approach. We don't always see it coming. When our hearts and minds are full of joy, fear has no resting place. One way fear controls us shows in our lack of participation. If we don't participate, we can't fail. Don't fear failure! Comparison is another way fear can halt our activities. We know in our hearts we are all different, as well as equal. We invariably judge ourselves on the differences and overlook the similarities. Thus we invite fear to visit us. The fastest way to rid ourselves of these thoughts is to do something nice for ourselves or another. Step forward with faith. If fear refuses to part from our door, this is a neat time to call a friend. We can entertain spiritual growth by being a better friend or by simply paying another a compliment. Then fear looses its power and becomes a blessing. There is energy in the adrinalin fear produces, you see. Without fear's visit, we may forget to do some of these nice things. We may dawdle in our own comfort and not take time to share. Stepping through fear by caring about others and sharing ourselves works for me. Try it and see if it works for you. Remember, life is to enjoy each moment! Dusty’s Sharing – A friend sent me a question – suggesting a topic for an article. I’ve had to think on this one! It deals with the aspect of how the mind operates and what makes it tick… who starts the engine in our minds? What guides our lives? My first thought is that imagination leads the way. If we let our thoughts travel through myriad possibilities, we eventually land on one that feels right. This, then, can induce a desire to accomplish it. Another friend says that without the desire for a certain objective, result, or knowledge, it doesn't become important enough to think about. Let’s backtrack a bit. Another person says that an honest physical need takes the lead, regardless of desire, imagination, or any other possibility. However, a healthy or ill person can take care of the need and, at the same time, let the mind play with imagination and focus on those desires while doing so. If there is a need, it does indeed start the engine, though. What happens next? What if a “should” pops up? “I should take care of….” Where did it come from? Is it high on the priority list? Is there a desire to work with it? What does the mind do with the desire? For me, after my imagination brings up a desire, I look at that desire and then look at my surrounding lifestyle. Does it fit? Do I jump into it without planning? What triggers the next step? Does it affect those around me – family, close friends? Will it benefit them? If it won’t hurt them, will it benefit me? It deals with what we consider right. We may not consciously go through all of these questions but our makeup, maybe our subconscious. instantly whirls through these questions and we can choose the right answers without much conscious thought. When we look at the final answer, we can determine if it is what is best for ourselves and for others. Then we know Who is guiding our lives. Some sites I recommend: To Heaven and Back |
