You don't know what I feel
You say "distant from reality,"
I say it's no big deal.
Cause you'll never know exactly
what it feels like to be me.
Cause you can't be someone
That you're not
Welcome to reality.
You say that it's not there for me
but really, how do you know?
Do you think that I'm just thinkin
Everything that I show?
I do hide things from you,
and I am not ashamed to say
that you don't know what I'm feelin.
I don't think you'll find that day.
What I wish that you would do
Is say "Honey, it's all right
I don't know who you are,
But let's not make this into a fight
Cause I still love ya dearly
Even though you're not like me."
But ya don't say that,
I know you won't.
I guess I've faced reality.
You just refuse to see
That I'm not you.
I'm me
I know what I can do
And if I don't, what's it care to you?
You're tryin to make me into somebody new.
You might be someone special,
But I run my life alone
and I don't need the help you're giving
I'll face it and be free
But you'll still be stone.
The way I feel, the way I am
They really wouldn't give a damn
I know they don't, so why should you?
They say 'to your own self be true.'
Just lookin for consistency.
I'm more than they will ever be.
I'm more than you will ever be.
Welcome to reality.
