50 years ago, a mysterious weapon constructed from an unknown material was found in the remains of an old German castle.
The weapon came to be known as EHRGEIZ. It was presented to the winner of a tournament that determined the world's greatest fighter. In time, it became the name and symbol of the tournament itself.
In the Middle East, under the command of a particular organization, an excavation site was constructed to explore the ancient ruins believed to hold the secret of immortality. However, the key to the final door of the ruins could not be found. Now, a legend has surfaced among the people, hypothesizing that the mysterious stone embedded within EHRGEIZ is the key to the door.
The ambitious, hoping to finally unveil the mystery of the ancient ruins, are now set on obtaining EHRGEIZ in the championship tournament.

The battlefields in EHRGEIZ break the traditional boundaries of game design by adding a more interactive element to the standard fighting arena. The large and detailed battlegrounds, combined with a character's ability to go where they please, introduce new elements that shatter the fighting game paradigm. With this non-linear arena you can circle opponents for an opening, use obstacles as weapons, or strategically retreat for a tactical advantage. The different elevations within some arenas ultimately change the way battles are fought. With long range special attacks available to many characters, holding the high ground can give players an unexpected advantage. The ability to interact with the environment sets EHRGEIZ apart from other fighting games. Here, knowing your surroundings is as important as knowing your opponent.

This 360-degree range of motion will challenge you to develop new techniques to defeat your opponents.
Special Moves and Fighting Styles
3D movement and multiple fighting combinations bring out unique and creative fighting techniques that can be used to develop your own fighting style. A flexible combo system combined with smooth evasive and counter attack techniques makes for exciting gameplay in an easy to learn system.
Analog Controller (DUAL SHOCK) Compatibility
The large arenas and 3D gameplay take full advantage of the Analog Controller. The Analog Joystick and vibration mode add to the realism of each round.
Arcade This mode allows you to fight against a computer controlled opponent with the ultimate goal of winning the tournament. A second player may enter at anytime.
Versus This mode allows 2 user-controlled players to test their skills against each other in a non-tournament setting.
Practice Practice Mode is a perfect place for players to familiarize themselves with character moves and special techniques. Practice for as long as you like. With no time nor Physical Strength limit, you are free to train towards becoming an EHRGEIZ champion, unhindered.
A full featured RPG Story: While the EHRGEIZ Championship Tournament is being held, an archaeologist by the name of Koji Masuda is making his way towards the ancient ruin that he believes holds the secret to immortality. Once there, Koji finds a sealed staircase leading into a dungeon. Curiosity overwhelms Koji as he deciphers and unlocks the seal to the staircase, which eventually leads him to his destiny. This new world is best described as a foreign dimension containing the remnants of ancient memories. In search of the spring of eternal life, Koji is drawn deeper and deeper into the dungeon.
As a full-fledged RPG, The Brand New QUEST mode has the player assume the role of Koji Masuda or Clair Andrews in their search for the truth of the ancient ruin. They must descend into the ruin's dungeon alone, battling many monsters along the way. Featuring a full 3D environment, brand new magic system and a host of new monsters, weapons and items, Brand New QUEST will challenge even the most skilled of adventurers.
