My mishap takes place in one of the Amanas in Iowa. I was visiting the Amanas during Halloween time. I was staying in a motel near a cemetery because I am from out of state. My wife wanted to visit the cemetery just to look around and see the dates and years on the headstones. We went over to the cemetery and was looking around for a while, my wife called me over to a specific headstone and said, "Look at the name on this stone." When I looked, to my surprise, it had my name on it. My wife and I joked around a little bit about it, we even laughed, but I still felt uncomfortable about the whole ordeal. So later on that night I went back to the cemetery while my wife was sleeping and I kicked that damn stone over letters down. I all of a sudden got an eerie feeling, like there was an angry person staring at me. I ran back to my motel room and lay in my bed next to my wife. I had been sleeping for about an hour and woke up in a cold sweat, the room was very cold, and I was in the room by myself. I asked myself one question at that time, "Where is my wife?" I walked into the bathroom and standing right in front of the shower was somebody that looked just like me. I looked around and it could not have been the mirror. I asked in a trembling voice, "h-e-l-l-o." There was no reply. I walked out of the room and dialed up the main office, when I went back to the bathroom and looked it was gone, so I went back to my room and my wife was there. (Very weird) The next day we went and did some sight seeing and when we drove by the cemetery I looked into the graveyard and seen the same figure I seen the night before and I asked my wife if she seen it she replied, "no, are you feeling ok?" Later on that night my wife and I went to bed. Again I woke up in a cold sweat and my wife was gone again. I was the only one in the room. I ran to the bathroom and looked, it was there. This time it spoke in a low almost whisper voice, "Put it back." I went to the bed and covered my head with my blanket. When I woke up my wife was standing by the bed and she said I had been tossing and turning all night. This was to be our last day in the Amanas so i got out of my bed and took off running to the cemetery. The ghost was standing by the headstone. I tipped it back up, and put it back the way I found it. When I looked up the spirit was gone. While my wife and I were driving home I told her about it and she laughed. That was the last time I told anyone but I have heard similar stories about that graveyard in the Amanas and I swore never to go back.
