TROOP 242’S NEW SCOUT/PARENT
ORIENTATION NIGHT
7:00 pm
Lincoln Elementary School Gymnasium
Boy Scouts get away from it all! They camp, hike, and fish in the great outdoors. They get together in the
troop and try out new experiences. Boy Scouting is available to boys who are 11
through 17 years old, or who have earned the Arrow of Light Award, or have
completed the fifth grade.
The Scouting program has three specific objectives, commonly referred to as the “Aims of
Scouting
They are character
development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
If you are interested in joining the troop and finding out more about Boy Scouting, please join us on
March 19 for Orientation Night.
Troop 242 is a boy-run troop and Orientation Night will be presented in large by scouts within the
troop.
Scouts and leaders will be explaining and performing short skits on what Boy Scouts and the troop are all
about; from the troop’s organization to the steps on how a scout earns his merit badges and advances through Scouting.
