2003 Ford Police Interceptor
In 2002, the sworn peace officers at the University of Iowa and Iowa State were allowed to use the title of police officer. The University of Northern Iowa began using the title in July 2003. The use of the word "police" had previously been denied by the State Board of Regents but was allowed after years of lobbying. ISU DPS waited an entire year to remark their patrol cars to reflect the name change.
