Campbell Mound State Memorial

McKinley Avenue, off Trabue Road, 5 miles northwest of Columbus. This is an easy mound to miss. This site is on an acre of land enclosed on three sides by trees and a fence of native stone. In front is McKinley Avenue, an out of the way street. The mound is a little smaller than the other Adena mounds but is a very beautiful example of Adena mound building skills. It is near the Scioto River, which made a area a good village site. The villagers would have had plenty of fish, water, and a means of transportation. The mound was given to, The Ohio archaeological and Historical Society by, Jessie Campbell.
