Fairmount Mound
The privately owned Fairmount Mound, located on the grounds of the Fairmount Presbyterian church, is a flat topped conical feature approximately 15’ high and 80’ in diameter at the base. This is one of the few large burial mounds remaining in Licking County. The mound is mowed periodically, but normally is covered with low growing vegetation. The mound is located on a ridge crest overlooking the scenic rolling hills if the western Appalachian Plateau.
Directions Exit Interstate 70 at Ohio route 13 (Jackson town Interchange), go N on route 13 about 1 mile to US route 40, then E on route 40 for 1.5 miles, then N on licking county route 323 (Fairmount Road) .15 miles to crest of ridge. Mound is easily seen at crest of ridge to E of red brick Fairmount Church. Parking available at church.
Public Use: Restrictions: Fairmount Mound is privately owned. Permission should be obtained form the landowner before entering upon the property.
