Native Indian Mounds

Information on these mound sites was taken from books.
In no way do the Woodland Cherokee believe that any or all
of this information is correct with the exception of location
of each mound. What has been done to the Mounds
is not the path we walk…. These mounds should be left alone!!
What has been done to these mounds make our ancestors cry.
Mounds have been destroyed in the name of science and then
they have rebuilt them and say they were restored back to normal!
I think not, items were not returned to it place and should
not have been removed to start with. These people do not respect
what they find and then they take what is not theirs to take!
This saddens me greatly to think that so many are weak in the
paths they walk in life. The destruction should have been stopped many years ago!
They have dug up our ancestors to prove what?
To have a piece of deer hide clothing?
What is the idea of the way they think?
Then they stand back and make fun and call our ancestor’s names!
This just proves that they need to get on the path of life.

Visiting any of these mounds you should remember these:

1) DO NOT DIG INTO ANY MOUND. Do not walk or play on the Mounds.
These are not yours to dig in and should be totally RESPECTED.
These mounds are Scared Ground and should be left that way!

2) When you visit a Mound Do NOT throw your trash on Mother Earth!
She should be RESEPCTED also.
If you find trash, please clean it up.
Mother Earth cries her tears when you do not show her kindness.
She gives so much and many do not stop to think.

3) Please respect the Mounds and leave them as you found them.
Read below and you will learn why they should not be disturbed.
Thank You.

Scared Burial Grounds

This is why we must NOT Disturb Scared Burial Grounds.

Our bodies, once they are buried, return to the
Mother Earth from which we came. But the Spirit
lives on.

The bodies, when they begin to decay, nurture
the ground and become the grass that we see and
the flowers that we smell and the air that we
breathe through the trees that produce oxygen.
So this is how they come back to us.

Their Spirit is always with us. Sometimes the
spirits speak to us We have to learn how to listen.
As long as we look to the modern world and the
modern ways of living, we will have a hard time
hearing them.

Sometimes they try to warn us of things that are
going to happen. So we need to fast for four days
and go to a place where there will be no
interruption -- and listen --and if they have
something to say to us -- they will come.

If you know of a mound that is not listed here
yet, (there are many more that I do not have on here,
But I will be getting more on soon.)
You may send them to the Woodland Cherokee mail
and I will get them on here for you. Thank you.

These pages were added so that if anyone out there
wishes to go and visit, not destroy a mound and
always show respect, then enjoy.

Below are some pages that have different mound
sites to see. Some have pictures of mounds
and some pages do not.
